ENFP 7w8 Characters

Alex is a dreamer who follows her heart, but isn’t remotely realistic about the real world or the consequences of her actions. For example, she is enamored of the ‘idea’ of being in danger, but when the real thing happens and she’s stuck in a tree with lions after her, she says she did not find it at all ‘thrilling’ and that it didn’t live up to her expectations; it terrified her, and she wants it never to happen again. This is a common problem with ENFPs, who imagine things as far more romantic and wonderful than the reality actually is, and then are shocked and horrified by it being brutal and gruesome. She is witty and intelligent, always constantly talking and telling stories; she admits she gets nervous and then can’t shut up, but tells Spencer if he doesn’t like it, he has to talk more also! Alex is very emotionally driven, but also knows her own heart; she feels attracted to Spencer and chases after him, abandoning her finance and entire family to run off with him into the African wilds, then impulsively gets married to him on a ship so she can immigrate to America. She reads all of his letters from home aloud to him, but gets choked up when she finds the one about his uncles being killed, and tells him he ought to read it. At times, she asks what the ‘plan’ is and wants to know where they are going and what they are doing, but is generally open to whatever life throws at her. Alex shows low Si in her detachment from reality and hatred of it, but also in her sentimentality about his family ties, her desire to establish roots and live with him in Montana, and her occasional reminiscences about her past.

Alex has a perky and positive attitude even when the worst happens; as she tells Spencer in one episode, she refuses to be afraid of anything or to let anything bad happen to her, she will remain strong through it. She is forever re-framing and re-phrasing things, focusing on the positive, being cheerful and optimistic, and turning terrible situations into jokes in order to cope with them. She’s also so afraid of a boring life married to a dull, controlling twit that she runs away with Spencer and shouts back to her ex that he needs to find someone who truly loves him. When she shows up to get on a ship and sees him and her entire family are on board, Alex says she wants to stay in their cabin the entire time, so there’s no risk of running into any of them and facing the hurt feelings she left behind. She can be assertive when need be, and shows her fearlessness at certain points; she lays down the law and tells Spencer there will be no sending for her, they will either stay together or say goodbye forever, then is shocked and delighted when he tells her he wants to get married.
