ESFP 7w8 Characters
Jack is a typical opportunist who isn’t afraid to take risks or get bodily involved in things; he rides bucking horses, he’s the first one to saddle up and take the cattle into the mountains, he often charges into danger, he gets into shoot-outs and fist-fights, he winds up bedding his future bride in a hotel before the wedding, and he gets himself shot trying to protect his loved ones. He trusts what his feelings tell him and acts on it, when it comes to falling in love, getting even, or standing up for what is right, but he resists and argues with his inferior Fi uncle when it comes to moral matters, because he thinks “what about right and wrong?” should be a factor in all the decisions they make. It doesn’t seem right to him to just do what’s logical, without taking into account whether it lives up to a moral standard or not. Sometimes, he objects to the methods of the other cowboys and their brutality, and won’t support it; at other times, he comes up with his own plans and kicks into get it done mode, becoming aggressive in earning money and ensuring they appear strong enough that no one is going to come after them again. He shows almost no Ni, since he struggles to think beyond the moment.
Enneagram: 7w8
Jack is good natured until someone provokes him or goes after his loved ones, and then he goes off ‘half-cocked’ in a rage to get back at them. He is optimistic about their future, and wants to get married, but also doesn’t want to miss out on everything fun that involves the cattle. When we first meet him, he has insisted on saddling a wild bronc and riding it, much to his aunt’s distress (she fears he might break his neck). He doesn’t understand his girlfriend being emotional all the time, since he can rationalize, strategize, and talk about anything to raise her spirits; but he also shows aggression when provoked, gets into fights, and is furious when people put him in danger.
