Teonna is a very physical girl, who reacts to the violence melted out on her with her own aggression—she beats up on nuns, slams their heads onto desks, climbs on top of them to pound on them, and kills two of them, before when on the run she winds up killing another priest. She sets off for a 400 mile journey with no plan other than to escape, but is smart enough to cover her tracks by dragging a branch behind her. She does not talk about what has happened to her, or share her feelings with anyone, but wants to get back to her father and grandmother. Teonna is quite opinionated and harsh in many of her statements, pointing out the hypocrisy of those around her, and making threats about what she intends to do. In defiance, she speaks her native language a few times, to make a point. She tries to convince her friend to come with her, but when she refuses, Teonna is oblivious to the potential dangers (the girl says the priest will kill her if Teonna leaves; Teonna says no he won’t… and he does). This shows her lack of Ni, in that she is poor at foreseeing the consequences of her actions (her running away causes pain and punishment for the rest of the girls). She also doesn’t think that going home, that will be the first place the soldiers look for her; the man who finds her tells her that she is better off with him, and hidden among another tribe, so she agrees to go along with him.

Teonna gets beaten up a lot at the Catholic school, because she refuses to show any kind of weakness, to submit to the nuns, and often winds up ‘snapping’ and beating the hell out of anyone who touches her or any of her friends. Her defiance earns her merciless punishment, but still she does it, refusing to back down, submit, or beg for mercy; the only time she shows emotion is to ask for the priest to take mercy on the nun who abused her, because she can’t stand to witness such a severe punishment. Finally having had enough, she collects all the girls’ Bibles and beats that nun almost to death with it, then smothers her, stabs another nun who sexually molested her, and takes off on the run. She scares off a wolf by screaming at it and being aggressive. The world is a terrible place in her mind, and you have to be strong to get anywhere in it. Her wing is less obvious, but she seems quietly defiant and does not show much optimism or delusional positive thinking; she is more self-contained and withdrawn and instinctual in her actions, able to numb herself to certain things in order to tolerate them.
