Maleficent casts a spell upon Aurora that will take 16 years to come to full fruition—and she is willing to wait for it to happen exactly as she foresaw and planned it, and to work hard to ensure it transpires just as she intended. She does not want to alter her plan or face another outcome; it “must” happen the way she envisioned it. This is typical of a Ni-dom’s tendency to fixate on a single desired outcome and attempt to bend the world around it, to conform to their vision of reality. She spends those 16 years huddled up in her castle, away from people and reliant on her ghouls to do her bidding, inferring an inferior Se apathy and unwillingness to motivate herself to leave the confines of what is familiar (a detachment from and uncertainty in the sensory world). When Maleficent does transform into a dragon to defeat the Prince, she does not adapt well, using defensive spells and brambles to protect herself, over-estimates her own ability to fight, and quickly dies. Which spell does she choose? Why, the one that will inflict the most pain and emotional suffering upon Aurora’s parents, of course! Maleficent goes out of her way to emotionally torment them—she knows they wanted a child for a long time, and are now blessed with one, and thus she chooses a spell that will, for 16 years, force them to think about the day their daughter will die. They cannot stop it, they can do nothing against it, all they can do is wait… in anguish. That is the embodiment of bad Fe, to inflict emotional torture on someone else out of sheer pleasure at their pain. She also tortures the Prince on an emotional level, when she goes into the dungeons to taunt him.

Maleficent is highly emotionally sensitive, but also full of disdain—she is not merely insulted about being not invited to the christening, she intends to make other people pay for it. She transforms the insult into a curse. She is haughty and full of contempt for lesser beings, scornful and dismissive of her minions, and delighted to make much of her miseries and dwell in them for decades. Unhealthy 4s look for “the insult,” and then react to it, as she does. She also has a great deal of scorn for the other faeries. She is reclusive and distant, cut off from humanity and disinterested in connecting to them—hiding out in her castle for sixteen years and showing a severe detachment and lack of concern for others’ feelings.
