Dominant Extroverted Thinking – ease of organizing and remembering facts, drawing logical conclusions, and being efficient: Julie is efficient and likes to assign tasks to people, based on their qualifications, just so she doesn’t have to do all the undercover work herself. She’s also a self-confessed “workaholic” who has no trouble remaining emotionally detached in her cases. It bugs her that Charles sends her mundane facts and can’t seem to separate what might be important information from general comments (he always reports the weather to her, rather than sticks to the suspects). She reminds him several times that he needs to stay undercover, not draw attention to himself, be discreet, and above all, not make “friends” with the suspects, but he fails because of his warm and empathetic, emotional nature. She really does not like to get involved in emotional situations, and instead of wanting to be friends with Charles, just gives him her card at the end of the case and tells him to call in a favor if he ever needs one. Beyond solving the case, she has no interest in the lives of the residents at the home.
Auxiliary Introverted Sensing – working with what exists and their personal history to make an immediate impact: Similar to Charles, Julie does want to collect information and get to the bottom of things. She appreciates his reports even if she doesn’t read them or wishes he would stick to the relevant information (he doesn’t need to submit a detailed file on anything that doesn’t directly tie in to the missing necklace). She meticulously sets up his cover, and has her assistant plant all kinds of online evidence and a trail of information to throw Diti’s suspicions off, but then is impressed when Didi exposes her, because “that has never happened before.” Julie sets up an elaborate trap to capture a thief, and then is surprised when it fails.
Tertiary Extroverted Intuition – an interest in many different possibilities and in seeing connections between unrelated ideas: Whenever Julie follows her hunches, she doesn’t have trouble changing her mind, being wrong, or guessing someone else is responsible. A lot of her initial suspicions about who is responsible turn out to be wrong. She is mistaken about the motives of the person who planted the watch in Charles’ room (she thinks they are on to them, and Charles has been “made” rather than it was an innocent mistake). She’s wrong about Didi being a criminal. But she doesn’t take any of her guesses too seriously; she just operates as if they are true and tries to get to the bottom of them, and if that doesn’t work, she changes course and goes in a new direction.
Inferior Introverted Feeling – emotional under stress, and unsure of how to better connect to others: Julie is passionate about her work and says she loves watching people squirm when she exposes them, but she isn’t emotionally impacted by other people or their feelings. She calls Charles up and demands to know why he’s late for their meeting, but then hearing that he’s taking personal time after a friend’s death, she decides that is “understandable” and gives him the night off (provided he’s back at work the next day). She is awkward about being emotional and avoids it, leaving Charles to do most of the sweet-talking and connecting to others.

Enneagram 3 – a driven, ambitious person who wants to succeed to the best of their ability: Julie is a self-confessed workaholic without a personal life, who spends way too much time in the office, and is distant from her own emotions (and other people’s). She just wants to competently get her job done, and takes pride in being the best at her job, closing her cases, and sending people to jail or at least doing what her client wants. She is comfortable with the deceit involved in going undercover and urges Charles to be detached, skilled, and competent in his work, but she is also flexible when he needs time off to deal with his emotions (as long as they can get back on track tomorrow)! She really doesn’t like gushy-feely type stuff, and the highest praise she can offer Didi to convince her to stay on at the home is that Didi is the first person Julie has ever met who figured out what Julie was up to and exposed her (high praise indeed).
4 wing brings in a a sense that others lack their refined taste, and a longing for what they cannot achieve: Julie is not a people-person, and leaves most of the connecting to her considerably warmer receptionist. She wrinkles her nose most of the time at the things that make other people happy, and doesn’t like to help out so much as she wants to just focus on her work, carve out a niche for herself, and get the job done.
