Dominant Introverted Intuition—strong and specific personal plans, insights, or predictions that lead them to set their ideas in motion far in advance: Charles Wallace has learned more than most children because of his ability to just “know” things and his never-ending thirst for knowledge. His awareness of this has made him arrogant, since he “sees” what other people do not, and can read them and their motives like an open book. It’s this level of pride that “it” preys upon, to take over his mind and body. Charles often speaks in metaphors and does not explain himself, but he trusts his hunches about his sister, inferring he has a strong sense of her being necessary and braver than she thinks.
Auxiliary Extroverted Feeling—ease of emotional expression and shaping their actions around how their decisions affect others: Charles’ main motivations stem from his family’s needs and his sister in particular; she redeems him by reminding him that his purpose is love—by giving and receiving it. Charles sets out to find their dad because she needs him. He makes a lot of his decisions based on what others want and need from him, but also sees himself and his sister as a “we” / a unit. Charles “plays dumb” at school so people will hate him less. Charles Wallace can read his sister (and mother) on an emotional level. He sometimes changes his wording to appeal to their feelings.
Tertiary Introverted Thinking—desires to understand how systems and people work so they can better communicate or figure out how a hack that works: He has a warm, protective side but is also detached and analytical. He needs no proof of his theories—they just “make sense to him,” as his truth. His sister can reach him by appealing to his love for her, on an emotional level, to free him from the “it.”
Inferior Extroverted Sensing—impulsive and hedonistic under stress, often miscalculates when they act rashly: He trusts his insights and the fantastical more than reality, and often lives separate from reality – he is not terrific at improvising in the moment (inferior Se).

Enneagram 3 – a driven, ambitious person who wants to succeed to the best of their ability: Charles Wallace is highly intelligent, but also arrogant about his knowledge. The “It” appeals to him by taking over his vanity and making him act on his subconscious belief that he is superior to his sister and to other mortals. Charles does not understand his sister’s self-doubt, since he faces none in himself. He pushes her constantly to have more self-trust and to act on her instincts. He is hard-working and an excellent student, ahead of his peers in his grades and confident of the future he and his sister will share in finding their father.
2 wing brings in a helpfulness and a desire to be seen as a good person: Charles wants to be good and kind, and is supportive to his sister, always encouraging her, assuming he has the right words to help her succeed, and feeling incredulous that she is not more self-confident. She gets through to him despite him being possessed by reminding him that the greatest potential he holds is in loving other people—and this wokrs!
