Laura is an opportunist whose reckless throwing in with questionable schemes lands in her hot water. On a whim, she plans to blackmail a public official and then, when enticed into a wager with Arthur, risks everything on a bet that Sir Robert will value his reputation above his honor. She goes down in flames but not before setting another scheme in motion that will unravel in his life and potentially destroy her childhood rival. Laura is a bold, aggressive, risk-taking, sexually forceful personality. That she invested in a scheme without researching it completely shows her impulsiveness and lack of an ability to think about the long-term consequences of her decisions; however, Laura is an excellent judge of character, senses the potential in other people, and exploits them to her full advantage… with a little help from inside information, of course. Her heart, her desire to gamble, and her willingness to allow others causes her scheme to fall through, because she tries to entice Lord Goring into a relationship at the same time. Her emotions are rarely touched by anyone else’s; she is charming, outgoing, and sweet, but behind it all lies a conniving nature intent on having her way, even if it damages other people. Though thwarted, she isn’t resentful because everyone made their own decisions in the end. She nearly succeeds in blackmailing someone, to cover her financial risk and ensure that her reckless spending is dialed back. Laura acts decisively for what she wants, by manipulating Arthur and Robert, playing them against one another, placing doubt in Lady Chiltern’s mind, and ultimately sending a letter that will destroy them all. Her interest is purely financial, after a certain point.

Laura is seductive and charming to others, but it’s all a front to get something from them – whatever she wants. She enjoys scheming and manipulating the people in her life on an emotional level, pretending to be a needy woman while underneath operating on 8-disintigration motives of control, enjoyment of the power she has over other people, and achievement. She focuses on being appealing and attractive to Arthur, hoping to suck him into “saving” her from this terrible situation she finds herself in. Her 3 wing is competitive and attention-seeking. She never much cared for Gertrude (a 1) in school, finding her a moralistic bore – her 3 also wants success but is willing to cut corners and play a role to get it.
