Sokka MBTI & Enneagram | Avatar the Last Airbender

ENTP 6w7 Characters

Sokka was originally an inventor and innovator, who has been trying to live up to his father’s expectations of protecting the village, but it’s not his natural role and he feels stifled in it. Given the chance to rescue Aang, he jumps at it, then sees protecting the Avatar as also protecting the village (but can’t remember the exact wording, and has to ask his sister for a reminder of how exactly this works). He easily falls in and out of love, finding different girls in different villages to have crushes on, while he over-emphasizes his own abilities to impress them (he invents a lot of things, from his various weapons to helping out an inventor with a plane-like thing). But he is rather poor at the sensory world; it terrifies him to fly on the water buffalo, he feels out of his depth when fighting, and is easily overpowered unless he’s using his intellect. Sokka has a strong ability to analyze things, figure out how they work, and improve on them. He easily sees how to improve a model of a flying machine and make it work better. He crafts boats and improves things on the fly. Sokka uses a lot of low Fe tactics as well – he tries to impress people, sometimes by exaggerating his importance, he needs his father’s approval, and he tries hard to take care of the people he cares about. Though blunt, he can turn around and be comforting, encouraging, and use flattery to accomplish things. He can be practical, he is cautious about what is unknown, and enjoys working with tangible objects, such as models, more than theoretical ones; he enjoys maps and knowing what they are going to do when they get to certain places. He wants to have a plan and some idea of what to expect.

Enneagram: 6w7

Sokka is the worrywart of the group, who always warns people to be careful, who takes his responsibilities seriously, and who gave up his dream of becoming an architect because his father had different expectations for him (he adapted to what his father wanted him to be, which is the “protector” of the village). Sokka is very sensitive about this, but also self-deprecating; when others find out what his job is, and raise their brow because he isn’t actually doing it at home anymore, he explains himself, justifies himself, or makes a joke about it. He seems like a hard-ass at first, but is really quite likable, flexible, and good-natured, using humor to diffuse tough situations and poking fun at things on their down time. While cautious, he isn’t above taking risks or wanting to change his entire life in pursuit of a better future. He also has an optimistic side that kicks in whenever they face anything hard.
