Sam MBTI & Enneagram | Black Doves

MBTI Type: ISFJ

Dominant Introverted Sensing—a strong emphasis on memories holding personal significance, meticulous, and detailed: Sam is an “at home” kind of assassin; even though he does not tell anyone anything about himself, he has a fondness for his former boyfriend, his domestic life, and for his friends. Sam is loyal and finds it hard to separate from the people he loves. He vanishes for a long time from London after being exposed, but when he returns, he goes back to his old friends and to his boyfriend, checking up on him to make sure he’s doing fine. He does a few dumb things, like going to a hit after six glasses of wine, but he’s still “good enough” to be lethal thanks to 20 years of practice.

Auxiliary Extroverted Feelingease of emotional expression and shaping their actions around how their decisions affect others: He is good at putting others at ease, consoling them, and caring about them and their welfare. Sam tries not to make decisions that will negatively affect his boyfriend or their relationship. He isn’t comfortable meeting up with Michael or disrupting his life, and it pains him not to be honest with him about what he does for a living. He can turn on the charm and make others trust, like, and confide in him, and gives Helen unconditional support even when he disagrees with certain of her choices and finds fault with them.

Tertiary Introverted Thinkingdesires to understand how systems and people work so they can better communicate or figure out how a hack that works: Sam is logical and detached; he doesn’t have trouble taking things apart, figuring out clues, or considering the consequences to his decisions—and cautioning Helen about the potential ways her actions could get her into hot water. He often has to rescue her, by showing up for her, killing people who are trying to kill her, and helping her solve the puzzle of their lives.

Inferior Extroverted Intuitioncurious about the future and in different possibilities, but skeptical of “unrealistic” ideas and allows others to lead the way there: Sam has little interest in things outside of what he does for a living, but he switches around his perspectives, following one lead and shifting his focus to another suspect when he runs up against a dead end.

Enneagram: 9w1

Enneagram 9desires freedom from others’ influences, by going along with them and being tolerant, until it matters not to: Sam is calm and mild-mannered. As an assassin, he puts his emotions aside and gets the job done, causing no undue suffering in his victims. He numbs himself to what he is doing. Sam rarely gets upset about anything and simply deals with it, to get it out of the way. When he first meets Helen, her brisk manner bothers him because it seems unpleasant, and he wants things to be “nice” between them. Sam struggles to know what he wants out of life. He hopes not to run into his ex, but also doesn’t want to leave things uncomfortable between them. He doesn’t want to inconvenience him or deal with intense emotions.

1 wing brings in a desire for moral rightness and perfection: “When you first meet someone, it’s polite to introduce yourself,” he tells Helen. He wants to be proper, and other assassins chuckle at him a bit for having “a stick up his butt.” Sam has certain things he refuses to do, among them killing children. He lets a kid get away without shooting him, which lets him grow up and start his own drug empire. Then Sam is on the hook and in trouble later, forcing him to go back and shoot him to get “even” with his boss.
