INTP 5w6 Characters
Susan is very analytical and worked as a code-breaker for the Government during the war. She sees and looks for patterns that others miss, is really good at the crossword puzzles, and comes up with an elaborate theory that the missing women indicate a serial killer working in and around the area. From there she theorizes in different directions as she and her friends follow the clues, changing her mind constantly with Ne as new information becomes available (first they think the suspect is a conductor, then possibly into the black market lipsticks, etc). She gathers facts and evidence and then gets frustrated when other people can’t follow her train of thought or dismiss it as being too reliant on “intuition,” but she is often on the right trail, even if she’s not exactly correct in her details. But like a lot of INTPs, she’s not aware of how dangerous things are until she’s in the middle of them; she foolishly assumes they can keep their friend safe on the train, then loses sight of her, she’s assaulted, and Susan flies into a panic. She figures out while talking to the serial killer who it is, but trusted him up until that point; then quickly hurries away. Her low Fe doesn’t really know how to be emotionally intimate with her friends or even her husband; Susan cares more about analyzing stuff and figuring it out.
Enneagram: 5w6
Susan develops her theory about the missing girls being linked on her own first, and doesn’t want to consult with the police or bring in her friends until she realizes the pattern is too large for her to pick out on her own. She’s extremely private and keeps most things from her husband, but also is constantly problem-solving, thinking, and analyzing, trying to figure out the world and the people in it without becoming too attached to it. She has no real social circles and dropped most of her friends after she left Bletchley, which Millie somewhat resents (“You stopped sending post cards,” Susan says; Millie answers that when Susan never responded, she didn’t see the point). Initially, she and Millie were supposed to travel the world together and go on adventures—which Millie did, but Susan just stayed home, got married, and lives a small, quiet life. Her 6 wing comes in midway through the first season, when she starts to rely on her friends to supplement her ideas and becomes concerned for their safety. She still takes enormous risks, though, without fully thinking through the ramifications of them, and only panics when they go wrong.
