Ginger MBTI & Enneagram | Blue Jasmine

ISTP 9w8 Characters

Unlike her hyper-emotional sister, Ginger is really down to earth and rational. While her sister goes on about the dreams she has, Ginger asks her where the money is coming from to fund this dream. And her inferior Fe gets run ragged by trying to keep the peace between her boyfriend and her sister. She’s aware they hate each other and tries to broker peace between them (to support her own 9ish need for calm detachment). But overall, she’s pretty non-emotional, doesn’t take Jasmine’s insults to heart (mostly ignoring or dismissing them), and only loses her temper toward the end of their relationship, when she finally confronts Jasmine about her husband ripping them off and ruining her life. Jasmine wants to take classes so she can do online interior decorating school, which confuses Ginger, because there’s actually in person schools you can attend (and why wouldn’t you? As an ISTP, that’s what she would do—go to an actual physical location and engage with the students!). She is also more impulsive than her sister, falling in and out of relationships, having “quick sex” (twice) in the back of a van with a guy she just met ten minutes earlier, and then getting into a relationship with him, without thinking there might be a hidden agenda. She’s very physical, eager to move in with her boyfriend, and is constantly doing things. Ginger has had a lot of relationships and jobs, and yet feels content with a more settled and low-key life. She doesn’t show much intuition except that when they strike it rich and win money in the lottery, she encourages her boyfriend to invest it rather than spend it, hoping it will earn them more in the future.

Enneagram: 9w8

Ginger is the exact opposite of her adopted sister, in that she is chill and fine with anything. She doesn’t get upset unless other people are upsetting Jasmine, and then she clears the house out, so Jasmine does not have a meltdown. She’s over-tolerant of her boyfriend (who at one point gets so mad, he rips the phone off the wall). After she cheats on him after easily being sucked into an affair, she then goes back to him as if nothing ever happened, even though he screamed at her because of it—showing a 9’s capacity to ignore whatever they don’t want to face, and go along with other people’s agendas. She doesn’t like her sister, and it’s because of her sister that she has no money (and her last boyfriend dumped her), and yet she allows Jasmine to stay in her house when she needs somewhere to go, and tries to accommodate her in any way she can. Since she is so trusting and accommodating, it doesn’t occur to her that the man she is seeing might be married, and she is blindsided when he reveals that he’s been having an affair with her, and has to stop now because his wife has found out the truth. Because of her 8 wing, she is unrattled by problems, and can assert herself decisively when necessary. She avoids telling Jasmine what she feels about her for a long time, but then eventually blows her top and confronts her about her entitled behavior.
