MBTI Type: ESFJ
Rosalind is very open with her emotions, and exceptionally sensitive to the needs and feelings of her patients. She more than any other nurse is able to say exactly the right thing to put people at ease, to make them feel okay with a hard situation, or to invite them to open up, often by sharing her own personal experiences or thoughts (“I am so glad that is over… those girls are quite scary, I feel for you that you have to work with them every day!”). She talks about how things make her feel, and is affected easily by the pain and suffering of those around her. It’s easy to make her cry with a harsh word, but she also wants to live up to the expectations of those around her. Rosalind is meticulous and detailed in how she cares for her patients and learns new information. She likes to know what to expect, and to have a sense of how she can competently tackle the situation. When she doesn’t know something, she trusts the advice of the senior midwives (believing that their experience counts for a lot). She also has a playful lower Ne that loves new ideas, dreams and thinks about what she wants for her future, and is excited to learn new topics. Rosland tries to understand people as a way to help them, and most of her analyzing centers on those around her, rather than doing it for fun.
Enneagram: 6w7
Rosalind is a warm and friendly nurse, but also has a lot of self-doubt that causes her to reach out and consult with the other midwives while on the job; this causes Sister Julienne and Nurse Crain to worry about her, and look for ways to build up her confidence. When tested and asked what she intends to do if no one else is with her during a difficult delivery, Rosland says she will trust that the mother’s body knows best, implying even then that she is outsourcing her trust to someone else / her patient. She is easily affected by what is happening around her, but also distrustful of people and their motivations when she thinks something is off. Concerns about not being good enough or knowing enough to past her test has her up in the middle of the night, studying in the bathroom so she won’t keep her fellow student awake. But she is also funny, outgoing, and sensitive, easily moving toward people, using self-deprecating humor to make them like her, and looking for the good in every situation by instilling hope in her friends and patients.
