King Orm MBTI & Enneagram | Aquaman

MBTI Type: ESTJ

Orm is a natural leader and wants to be king of the Atlanteans, so he guards his kingdom fiercely against any threat. He wants to go to war against the humans, to clear out the oceans and protect their borders, but also for his own purposes. He sends lackies to do a lot of his work for him, rather than risk his own life, but also confronts a fellow king reluctant to go to battle about his cowardice, insults him for being a kingdom of intellectuals and poets rather than proactive, and kills him in front of his wife and daughter, to intimidate her into obedience with his plans. He also has a lot of respect for tradition and reliance on his own past when it comes to making decisions; Orm decided when his mother died in the Trench that Arthur was to blame, and has held a grudge against him ever since, waiting for the moment to kill him in retaliation. He is prepared to marry Mera to create a royal dynasty, even though he cares nothing about her, and relies heavily on what his father taught him about the above world to reinforce his prejudices against humans. Since he wants war, he arranges for the humans to appear to fire on them, to start one, and uses strategic thinking to target Arthur when he’s out of their reach (giving weapons to a known enemy Arthur made when he sank a submarine). This shows creative flexibility in terms of Ne, but inferior Fi is his real problem. He doesn’t factor people’s emotions into his decisions except to know which pressure points to push to get them to submit to his authority. Orm also has an immature reason to hate his brother, since he couldn’t bear to lay the blame at his father’s feet (Arthur is not responsible; his father is!). But he does come around to seeing the light, after Arthur refuses to kill him to claim the kingdom.

Enneagram:  cp6w5

Orm’s insecurities is what makes him so dangerous; he has never met his brother, and has no reason to think the “half-breed” will want anything to do with his kingdom, much less take his throne, but when Arthur shows up, that’s immediately the paranoid conclusion he reaches. Orm then aggressively defends his kingdom by trying to beat his brother in an underwater battle (he wins due to his expertise and the terrain), but also admits he does not want to kill Arthur, and gives him “one last chance” to return to the world above land and never come back to Atlantis, in which case he will allow him to live. Though he fights hard against Arthur, and then wants to unleash war on the above world, Orm is also brought to his knees buy his mother’s arrival from the Trench, and he submits to her authority when she tells him he was taught wrong by his father, to hate and fear the humans. He is secretive, distrustful, suspicious, and hurt by the disloyalty of Vulko, whom he has arrested for “high treason” (a crime also leveled against Vera, after he does not trust that she is dead even though he can find no trace of her after her ship sinks into the lava flow).
