Charles Rowland MBTI & Enneagram | Dead Boy Detectives

ESFP 7w6 Characters

Charles is highly active, and always engaged with the environment; he attacks monsters and kills them, or smacks them in the face with his bat, or agrees to things on the spot. When Edwin gets ripped out of the room into hell, Charles demands someone open a portal into hell so he can go after him, then navigates his way through hell without any real expectation of what he could find there, blows up the monster chasing them, and gets Edwin out by the skin of both their teeth. He immediately invites Crystal to join them as their psychic, and adapts immediately to being in another country. Charles is also deeply emotional and attached to those around him. He gently lets Edwin down after Edwin bares his heart to him, by telling him he matters to Charles more than anyone else in the world, he would go to hell for no one else, and “we have the rest of our lives to figure out what that means.” Charles is very aware of other people’s feelings, and careful with them; but also is internal, does not like to talk about his past trauma or how he died, and tries to look on the bright side. He is easily emotional when triggered, and gets stuck in a ghost loop when seeing a ghost-man murder his family. He can’t stand by and let it keep happening, so he leaps into action and tries to stop it. Charles does not show much Ni. He rarely speculates so much as he wants to get his hands and body involved and figure out things on the fly.

Charles has unconditional self-regard, and brags that he can get anyone to like him. It’s true, he is often liked and people love to be around him, both the living and the dead. It is because he is funny, charming, and outgoing. Charles is running away from his own pain and trauma; he even says he doesn’t know why he chooses to laugh about things that aren’t funny, or why he can’t bear to face his own suffering. To see things that he can’t fix makes him angry, which launches him into action to do something about it. But Charles is always confident that he can do things no one else can, quick-witted, and able to barter people into making deals with him, assuming he can get out of them later with a little time to think (or to run away). His 6 wing cares a great deal about staying connected to others, looking out for them, and being protective of what is best for them. Charles is cautious when a situation calls for it, and refuses to let anyone take risks that could be avoided by him taking them on for them.
