ESFP 3w4 Characters
Madeline is a stereotype of an ESFP—obsessed with appearances and shallow, but also opportunistic. She is forever tweaking her looks, getting injections to stay firm, wanting plastic surgery, etc. Every man Helen has ever introduced her to, Madeline has stolen from her. Then on a whim, seeing how the magic clears up her skin, she spends a huge amount of money to drink it and expects instant results, which she gets. Impulsively, when she comes home and learns about her husband and Helen plotting her murder, she goes upstairs, finds a shotgun, and blasts Helen with it. The two then spar with shovels, whereupon Madeline suddenly realizes if they are both going to stay looking good, they need her loser of a husband to stick around to do “maintenance.” Her Fi is unhealthy. She goes after whatever she wants and has no consideration for anyone else; she demeans and puts down her husband because he does not live up to her standards; all of her ‘revenge’ against Helen is because she felt offended and like ‘trash’ around Helen’s rich parents (you never invited me over to the house!). And her Te gets a workout in terms of being blunt, laying down the facts, and seeing quickly that they need Ernest to drink the potion otherwise they’re “up sh*t creek.” But unlike Helen, who persuades with Fe, Madeline just tells him to drink it, you idiot! Her Ni is almost non-existent. She never questions anything, considers what the potential consequences might be, or thinks about what might happen if the neighbors hear a shotgun go off in the middle of the night.
Enneagram: 3w4
Madeline is obsessed with appearances and maintaining her youthful beauty, so she actually pays an exorbitant amount of money to wind up, well, dead. Beyond that, she is super self-confident and self-promoting, assuming she has more talent than she actually does, by focusing on her positive attributes and having a can-do attitude. She is quick to cut people off as an assertive individual when they cross her, and to take offense at their implication that she is too old (being furious to find out her side piece is seeing another, younger woman). But she also has a lot of 4 traits in that she holds onto grudges forever and uses them to build up her resentment toward Helen (one time, she got called “trash” and/or inferred that from Helen’s rich parents, and so she has resorted to stealing her men ever since, whether she wants them or not). And yet, she gets over her resentment quickly when she finds out she needs Helen (and Ernest) in order to stay in one piece.
