MBTI Type: ISTJ
Mrs. McCarthy is a studious and careful woman, a reliable caretaker to the church’s resources, and a meticulous gatherer of information before she speculates on it; she has mastered the art of the Strawberry Scone, and always falls back on it for public events (since it has given her the most success). She refuses to entertain anything ludicrous or unfounded, relying on the facts of situations more than on her understanding of their emotional resonances; Mrs. McCarthy has no problem correcting others, or pointing out the flaws in their reasoning. She prides herself on being responsible, organized, and hard-working, but also prioritizes her ‘care’ to the people she loves most (such as Father Brown). She is not open with her deeper emotions, and is somewhat wary of emotional expression or flattery, but also has strong views on what is right and wrong. Though studious and responsible, she is not above imaginative theorizing on the motives and identity of various murderers, but does not voluntarily read between the lines, preferring to take things at face value (inferior Ne).
Enneagram: 1w2
Mrs. McCarthy has strong views on morals and how things should be; she does not withhold her criticisms and airs her complaints about misbehavior openly. She can be rigid and moralistic at times, and gets into scraps with others due to them not doing things ‘according to a certain standard.’ She also focuses most of her attention on taking care of others and advising them. She’s helpful, but can be a little controlling at times.
