Brian ‘Smash’ Williams MBTI & Enneagram | Friday Night Lights

ESTP 3w2 Characters

Smash is an excellent football player, who is easily able to prove his physical prowess on the field… but he also proves it off the field, because he is quick to leap on opportunities, to react, and to date as many teenage girls as he can find in his high school. He starts a fight in a movie theater because a teenage boy made inappropriate remarks to his sister, while he is on a date with a white girl. He doesn’t understand his mother’s concern about them dating or see it as a problem, because it doesn’t occur to him that such outdated racist beliefs have anything to do with their relationship. He also takes steroids to improve his performance, not thinking about the potential longer-term consequences, which later cause him shortness of breath on the field. Smash is logical and articulate, but mostly relies on his tert-Fe to be charming, express his self-esteem, and rally his teammates. He thinks he can talk himself out of any problems by being likable, showing off his talent, and playing college reps against one another in search of the ‘best deal’ (which his mom doesn’t entirely approve of). Smash grows the most when he busts his knee, loses his scholarship, and has to learn to trust in himself again; he realizes that he does his best when he’s part of a team and not just looking out for himself. His low Ni had a goal all along of playing pro football, and he doesn’t want to consider any school that won’t get him there; but he temporarily considers accepting a promotion at his job after losing his scholarship (fortunately, he doesn’t have to get ‘stuck’ there).

Enneagram: 3w2

Smash is… well, self-confident. Some might call it arrogant. He talks about himself in the first person, he has chosen a nickname for himself, he has grandiose ideas about his future career as a professional football player, and he bounces back from things quickly, because it never gets him down or changes his goals. Smash uses all that charm and likability to mostly get chicks to love him, and do whatever he wants; but it also drives him to be the best on the field, to excel in his academics, and to get into a good college, even though he goes through a temporary slump as he moves toward 9 and assumes his dreams are all out of his reach. His 2 wing is concerned for others, and likes to build up his teammates; he is generally attractive to people and genuine in his affection for his girlfriend. Out of concern for her, he tells Lyla about her being bipolar, which she does not appreciate.
