Logan doesn’t really want to live for anything more than today, and has a reputation for being a troublemaker at school. He proudly tells Luke he got kicked out of several prep schools for playing pranks, including sinking the dean’s car in the lake. When Rory gets kicked out of her shared apartment by Paris after she becomes Yale’s newspaper editor, Logan doesn’t hesitate to invite her to live with him on the spot. He is reluctant to get seriously involved with her, because he’s used to living a playboy lifestyle, but also decides, again, on the spur of the moment, to get “serious” with her. He tries to get out of his family commitments and responsibilities by doing other things—taking Rory and her mom and Luke to a beach house for Valentine weekend, rather than flying to London to take care of business. He also shows a lot of tert-Fe, in how easily he makes people like him and gets stuff done. When Rory is late with uploading the newspaper, and is told they lost their press run, Logan gets on the phone to the press guy and sweet-talks him, using his father’s name as leverage, and stalling him until Rory hits “send.” He is quite good at putting her parents and her mother at ease, making Luke feel good about himself, etc, but can also lapse into unhealthy low Fe territory. When Jess comes to see Rory, Logan becomes jealous, possessive, and acts like a jerk, belittling Jess’ accomplishments and trying to make him feel bad. He is humiliated when his dad shows up and kicks him out of the beach house, pointing out that he has guests and this is rude. But he also resists low Ni – Logan is angry about not having any choices in his life, his father pushing him toward “one” way of existence, one career, one life, etc. He hates it and doesn’t want it for himself, but is addicted enough to his life of privilege he’s unwilling to risk it by making his own way in the world.

(I originally thought Logan was a 3, but someone talked me out of it, so here’s the revised typing.) Logan takes a long time to actually step up and start taking care of his responsibilities. At school, he is more focused on having fun, keeping things light, and pushing Rory to try new things than attending classes or making his school paper deadlines. Some of the people on the paper think he just got a desk there because his father is in the newspaper business. Rather than attend to his responsibilities and career, Logan spends most of his time wining and dining Rory, taking her to Cape Cod on romantic vacations, and hanging out with his friends. He gets seriously hurt while doing exciting activities, forcing Rory to step up and bawl out his father for not visiting him in the hospital. Later, he struggles to feel content while being forced to attend to his family business, and tells Rory not to come to London to see him, since if she’s around he will just want to be with her rather than double down and focus on his work. Logan is very good-natured and optimistic, but can also be stubborn, resistant to being told what to do, and aggressive when pushed around. He wastes no time in satisfying himself with one-night stands after being temporarily broken up with Rory, which causes her emotional duress later. Initially, he just wants their relationship to be one of non-commitment and the freedom to see other people, and resents her trying to “coerce” him into a relationship, because he is out of touch with his feelings and his heart.
