MBTI Type: ESFJ
Taylor is a caricature of an unhealthy Fe-dom in that he is forever trying to organize the community for social events, and gets super peeved at anyone who has a difference of opinion or refuses to go along with the group consensus; he sees that as being a party pooper and launches various attempts to force them to change their feelings or their mind and get on board with whatever they are doing. If he wants change, he brings it up at the town meeting and tries to convince anyone who doesn’t want something that it’s the best way to do it, by pointing out that ‘everyone else’ thinks it’s a good idea (thus, you are wrong because you’re upsetting everyone, not just me!). He is a strong traditionalist who cares enormously about Stars Hollow’s local history; he enjoys hosting the same sorts of events every year, with only minor variations, and lectures people about wanting too much change. He has shown the same movie three years in a row at the town movie night, both because it’s practical (it costs less than other films) and because it has nothing that could possibly offend anyone in it. Once in awhile, Taylor comes up with some new low Ne idea, such as opening an ice cream parlor on main street, or perking up local events with new vendors, different street names, etc. He rarely questions his own decisions or thinks he’s doing anything wrong, and has quite harsh opinions about some people when he sees them acting out of turn (such as thinking Jess is a little criminal, and not finding it funny that Jess staged a ‘dead body’ crime scene outside his market).
Enneagram: 1w2
Taylor is always looking for ways to improve the town, whether that involves placing all the PG13 videos behind a black screen so that no child sees an inappropriate image on the front of a VHS box, or thinking about putting spikes on the tops of the lamp posts so that the birds impale themselves instead of pooping on passers-by. He can be quite obnoxious at times in his insistence that others go along with what is ‘best’ for the community, and in pushing his ‘rules’ off on everyone, especially at the town meeting (where he doesn’t want “vagrants” hanging around). He is often annoyed with people and their behavior, and tries to find ways to force them to ‘behave,’ getting into a lot of arguments with Luke about his ‘lack of community spirit’ in the process. Taylor tries to help out where he can, and is quite loyal in taking Rory’s side in her break-up with Dean, whether she wants him to do so or not. He also offers plenty of unsolicited advice.
