All three of the K-Pop girls use Fe in some capacity, as we see when all of them instantly mirror each other’s feelings (everyone bursting into tears, getting furious over having their meal interrupted, or putting on a huge smile for their fans), but Rumi is the most impacted by it. She instantly takes charge of Zoey and Mira’s emotional states, by swaying them into going along with launching their new single, even though they just got finished with a tour. She smooths the tension over between them and hypes them up for their performances. She puts her own fear or exhaustion aside and projects confidence so that her friends feel safe. She wants to tell them the truth about herself, to gain their acceptance and understanding, and suffers from hiding it; she fears their rejection, hatred, and lack of understanding. The “voice inside her” targets her fear of being exploited, unwanted, and “evil,” forcing her to react out of shame. She crumbles when it seems that her friends have abandoned her and are turning on her, on stage, when they reveal her “evil stripes” to the world. It’s only when she finds self-acceptance and can assert that she likes herself, despite her flaws, that Rumi can find hope in her future.
Introverted Intuition
Rumi has a hard time not constantly driving toward a single goal; she wants to release their single immediately after their tour so their momentum doesn’t slow, even though her voice is becoming affected by her increasing demonic pattern and she needs time to rest. Her “vision” for the future, in which they use Golden to protect the world, makes everything feel urgent to her. If others get caught up in things, Rumi is always there to stay focused; this is not about how hot their competition is, they’re demons, we need to take them down! She knows something is “off” with their competition before they reveal themselves as Demons, and then despite having initial resistance to getting to know them, comes to see the good in their leader and encourages him to pick the right side. Rumi wants to trust him, and sees his potential to undue his mistakes, forgive his past, and move beyond the “voice” in his head.
Extraverted Sensing
Rumi is more than just a powerhouse vocalist; she kicks some serious demon butt. She leaps into action without hesitation, slicing and dicing through the demons that try to steal her fans’ souls. She is a natural dancer. And she is often so busy powering through everything, she neglects her own need for rest, recouperation, and “zen.” She pushes through her pain and exhaustion, assuming that she can rely on her own force of will to get things done.
Introverted Thinking
Rumi struggles to detach emotionally from her situation, her fear of being ostracized by her friends, and her worries about letting down her fans or putting them at risk. She sees her demon half as a problem rather than an opportunity, and it is not until she realizes that she can’t be dependent on how others feel about her to be self-confident that she finds the strength to defeat their demonic enemy.
The Enneagram 3
Rumi is an image-obsessed workaholic, who pretends she is fine even when she’s not, who doesn’t want her friends to see the reality of her half-human nature, in case they hate her for it. This mirrors the 3’s need for acceptance, to be the best at everything they do, their inability to slow down, and how hard it is for them to take time off. Because if they are not “doing,” they are nothing! To a 3, and to Rumi, time feels like it’s slipping away from her, and she needs to do things urgently, before it’s too late. She is good at rallying her friends and convincing them to go along with her plan, but struggles with soul-sucking shame about her true identity, her father being a demon, and not knowing where that makes her belong. She wants to get rid of her marks, because they alienate her from others. But once she decides to love herself, she “owns” it.
The 2 Wing
She is a warm-hearted girl, who wants to do “right” by her fans and her friends. She will love, support, and cheer them on, talking about how amazing they are and what they bring to the dynamic. Rumi fears she isn’t a “good” person and desperately wants to get rid of the part of her that seems “bad,” so she can feel accepted.
There isn’t enough character development to “prove” the other two girls, so I’ll sum them up below.
Zoey: ESFJ 2w3
Zoey is warm-hearted, enthusiastic, easily mirrors fans and gets sucked up in the emotions of the moment, and knows how to pump up everyone around her. The doctor tells her that she is “eager to please… maybe too eager.” (Fe) She is sensory-driven, loving their costumes, their music, dance routines, spa days, hand to hand combat, and crashing on the couch with food (Si). When it comes to healing Rumi’s voice, she goes to a “sketchy” doctor, showing her openness to trying out unorthodox methods; she says she has twenty-three notebooks full of insults they can use in their lyrics (Ne). And she doesn’t think to question her own need to people please or what’s up with Rumi’s odd behavior (inferior Ti).
She is a gushing fountain of sweetness, cheerfulness, joy, and encouragement for her friends, wanting to eagerly connect to her fans and be a good example for them, while taking pride in keeping them safe from demons (2w3).
Mira: ISTP 8w9
She is detached, observant, and unaffected by harsh words or remarks about her overall presentation, with a dry sense of humor (Ti). Eager to leap into action, kill demons, dance her heart out, crash on the couch, over-eat, and remain steady under pressure (Se). She knows something is up with Rumi, even though she doesn’t push her too hard to get to the root of it right away (Ni). And she can instantly turn on crying, laughing, and cheering when her fans do the same, mirroring them so they like her (inferior Fe).
Mira admits that she is “short-fused and highly aggressive.” When the doctor tries to intimidate her with his Stare, she stares at him back and then scowls, scaring him enough that he backs off and has no observation or challenge for her (8w9).
