Fisher Bloom MBTI & Enneagram | Lark Rise to Candleford

ISTP 7w8 Characters

Fisher is a master at fixing things, taking them apart, and figuring out how they work, so he can put them back together again. He uses this knowledge to fix the town clock, but also to fix the broken telegraph when they need it in an emergency. He is frank and unassuming, even brutal in his assessment of Laura’s character (he sees her as “buttoned up” and tells her off when she tries to appeal to him). Fisher appreciates being talked frankly to; when Laura’s father tells him to decide whether to break Laura’s heart now or two children down the line, Fisher leaves her even though he is in love with her. His manner is often charming when he wants it to be, but he also runs away from emotional conversations and situations. Robert convinces him to sacrifice his feelings, to make Laura’s life better in the long term; he puts aside his own desires in her best interest. He is restless and enjoys moving from place to place, meeting new people, making new friends, having new experiences, and having fun. Fisher enjoys living life to the fullest and tries to get Laura to open up and take more risks; his accusation against her initially is that she is too proper and “buttoned up.” He understands that if he stayed in Candleford, he might grow tired of being in one place, and so he chooses to move on. With very little time spent around Laura, he pinpoints the flaws in her character, and her true desires. He instinctively knows how clocks work and how to fix them. Though he tends to live in the moment, he also looks to the future when making decisions about whether or not to remain with Laura and commit to a long-term relationship.  He intends to shape Laura through his comments about her character, in the hope of making her change in certain ways.

Enneagram: 7w8

Fisher is a wanderer through life, always in search of new places and experiences and people. He doesn’t like Laura at first because he sees her as someone who is too rule-abiding and who plays it safe; she is a “prude” in his mind, and he berates her for it frankly, without really caring whether or not he insults her. Though he falls in love with her, when Robert reminds him of his own wanderlust and tendency to get bored, Fisher moves on rather than stay and build a life with her. He knows he would not be happy sticking in one place for very long, and the thought of a wife and children tying him to Lark Rise fills him with such dread, he heads for the road. He can be assertive with people and somewhat quarrelsome since he doesn’t care whom he offends and often speaks frankly.
