Twister Turril MBTI & Enneagram | Lark Rise to Candleford

ENTP 9w8 Characters

Twister often gets caught up in fantastical ideas and runs with them, whether that involves superstitions or his notions about people’s motivations. He can get very excited about these ideas, but without following through on any of them. He talks about ghosts and notions of life after death, he creates accusations against people for stealing bees or wanting to take away the woman he loves, he sees potential in earning money by pretending to be a hunchback when begging in Candleford, etc. Twister can be somewhat tactless but also inventive; he isn’t bothered by “morals” so much as he looks for opportunities to exploit. But he also shows a lot of low-health Fe behaviors – he can’t stand other people receiving praise or affirmation and ignoring him (he feels a need to compete with them, while not realizing how he is coming across as selfish or pathetic). He insults people and then gets offended when they are angry at him. It takes a lot for him to admit he is wrong and to apologize for his arrogance – when Queenie leaves him for aw hile, he wants her to come back to him without needing to admit he did anything selfish. Twister can be stuck on himself and too proud for his own good. He also shows a lot of low Si attachment to things – to his beloved home, to the place where he grew up, to the memories he made with his father, to being a Saint in a play year after year.

Twister has a reputation for being an “lazy old duffer,” who “ain’t never done a lick of work in his life.” He goes for the path of least resistance, in constantly avoiding anything difficult. He has not bothered to marry Queenie for over fifty years, and only proposes to her when he fears she may run off with someone else. He isn’t bothered by others’ attempts to get him to earn a living, and often drinks away his earnings (what he manages to scrape together by doing simple tasks around town). He sometimes looks for nefarious ways to earn a few coins, including threatening to expose another man for being a fraud (Twister is jealous of all the attention he is receiving). Under stress, he shows a lot of 6 traits – being suspicious of others and their intentions, worrying about losing Queenie to them, paranoid and insecure, watching over people protectively in case they die, etc. He shows these traits often, but without the super-ego thinking that would go along with them if he were a core 6 (no “should” in his thinking when it comes to being a husband and responsible father).
