Claire Kincaid MBTI & Enneagram | Law and Order

INFP 9w1 Characters

Claire has strong moral views and often asserts them with her boss; she doesn’t think they should hand out the dealt penalty in most cases, and argues against it when Jack insists they should consider it. She often argues for leniency and says people have reasons for their decisions. Even though she knew it would be deemed inappropriate, she conducted love affairs with two of her employers—one of them after being exposed, humiliated, and almost disbarred for the first one. She simply followed her feelings where they lead her, and assumed it would not cause a backlash in her workplace. Claire is pretty open-minded, and willing to consider and argue all perspectives, including offering up alternative ideas of motives to Jack when in doubt. She changes her mind about how harshly to persecute the case and, sometimes, about who is morally responsible for the crimes. At times, she completely abandons her previous conclusion (this person is guilty) to embrace an alternate theory (they aren’t guilty). Claire draws on her wealth of legal knowledge to make arguments, and is something of a stickler for details. She sometimes tells Lennie that he needs to come back with better evidence, since the facts don’t add up or she can’t use them in court. She defaults into relying on the facts when handling court trials, and won’t alter her testimony to conceal Jack’s problematic behaviors.

Enneagram: 9w1

Claire is universally non-judgmental, to the point that Jack is incredulous with her in one episode because she wants to give a pass to a woman who brought a loaded gun into a courtroom and killed someone in front of Claire. Her habitual tendency to assume everyone has a reason for what they are doing clashes with his strong pursuit of justice. Claire is secretive and non-reactive; when someone asks her if she’s sleeping with Jack, she doesn’t answer but just looks at this woman. It’s not until later seasons that we find out she was indeed involved romantically with her boss—although we also learn she had another affair with a previous boss when working with him, showing her tendency to merge into their agenda and respond to their feelings. She is often easily influenced by others, and persuaded by their arguments, pushing for leniency with Jack and even doubting their case if the evidence doesn’t line up. Even though she doesn’t like Jack’s take on things sometimes, she still goes along with it for the sake of expediency or the bottom line. Her 1 wing asserts itself often, though, in how she argues for the right way of doing things, she excludes evidence not gained by lawful means, and she refuses to lie under oath even if it makes her or Jack look bad.
