Rose Nadler MBTI & Enneagram | Lost

INFJ 9w1 Characters

Rose, much like Locke, has a special connection to the unseen and knows things about the island, what it means, and the effect it has on people, without anyone needing to tell her. She knows the island has healed her, that her husband is still alive (even though there’s no evidence of him being so), and that others have potential that they are unaware of. She looks for that potential and encourages them to move toward it; when she meets Bernard and he proposes after a few months of dating, Rose tells him that her future is uncertain, and she is going to die. She shows a lot of Fe as well; Rose is well liked, but also articulate in expressing her emotions in the instant things happen to her. She both lives separate in her belief that her husband is alive, and as part of the group in how much time and effort she contributes to the collective. She sees Charlie as selfish because of his internal feelings and how that causes him to be disruptive to others, not helpful, or not contribute in some way to the greater good. Rose spends a lot of time thinking and trying to understand things about herself, others, and the island, but is largely inactive other than sitting and taking in the beauty of her surroundings. She can be impulsive from time to time, such as inviting her future husband for a cup of coffee after they meet, and deciding to get married having known him only a short time.

Unlike her husband, Rose doesn’t really want to do anything about getting off the island, because she feels so connected to it as a source of her healing. She talks about how she could feel the cancer in her body, and how it was different; she now feels that she is healed and the cancer will not return (unless she leaves the island), which marks her as a Body type. Rose is gentle but firm with most people, accepting of them and their flaws but also willing to correct them (she tells Charlie at one point that he is being selfish, when he could be helping those around him move their stuff off the beach, and not to wallow so much in his feelings). Rose often feels like Bernard is being too intrusive upon others, and criticizes him in public a couple of times. She initially told him off for trying to help her out of a snowbank, thus establishing her own boundaries and defending others against his efforts of “helping.”
