Dominant Extroverted Thinking—ease of organizing and remembering facts, drawing logical conclusions, and being efficient: Madame started out in a brothel and worked her way into the court, where she becomes a political manipulator at the highest level. She works to get those she approves of into top positions of power, to protect her own standing at the court, while giving the king whatever he wants, whenever he wants it. Madame is very strategic and detached in many of her decisions; she feels insulted when Marie slights her, and wants a public acknowledgement of her, not simply because her feelings got hurt, but because she knows it politically weakens her in the eyes of the court, and she intends to hold on to her power. She uses her sexual favors to leverage Louis on her behalf. Many times, we see her maneuvering people behind the scenes.
Auxiliary Introverted Intuition—strong and accurate specific insights, plans, or predictions, and a singular state of mind: Her intuition shows in her forward thinking; she says to Marie that her past is of no interest to her, so why should Marie care about it? When Marie arrives, Madame immediately knows that she’s virginal and clueless about marriage, so she teaches and instructs her in how to please men, knowing this will both please Louis with her (sustaining her long-term at court) and make Marie an alley. When snubbed, she tries to get Marie isolated by working to get her supporters cast out of court. She even gets a marriage proposal from the king!
Tertiary Extroverted Sensing—trying to act on what exists by living in the moment and hands-on-learning: Madame also shows a lot of low Se behaviors. She is heavily sensual and opportunistic, someone who enjoys hunting, riding, and outdoor sports; she wastes no time in rallying her allies against Marie and working against her. But she also dares to entertain lovers and sleep with them, while serving the king, behaviors that could displease him and get her thrown out of court. She over-spends to such a degree, the king’s financial advisors get involved.
Inferior Introverted Feeling—emotional under stress, and unsure of how to better connect to others: Madame shows inferior Fi as well—she doesn’t care what anyone thinks about her or want their approval, and she doesn’t simper, lose her temper in public, or speak about her emotions, nor does she show any. Her friendship attempts toward Marie are purely strategic, rather than out of any genuine desire to befriend her.

Enneagram 8—defiant and strong-willed, with a need to control their environment and assert themselves to get what they want: Madame asserts herself early on as an assertive type when she says she doesn’t care what anyone else thinks about her, and neither should Marie (when Marie stumbles in front of the court, Madame says “so what? They are nothing,” implying that Marie is of greater importance than they are, so what they think should not enter Marie’s head). She is afraid of nothing and no one, and when Marie crosses her, Madame sets out to make her sorry for it, by getting her sent home to Austria in disgrace! 8s do not forgive and they do not forget, and she eventually must concede defeat even after winning a few skirmishes, because her lover has died without marrying her as he intended. At first, Madame befriends Marie, seeing in her a potential alley, but she is unapologetic about trying to take Marie down once she’s been snubbed and insulted.
7 wing brings in a heady secondary influence, where positive re-framing and optimism takes flight: She is very bold in her hedonism—Madame has lovers even though she lives in the palace and ‘services’ a king, and has no trouble barring her door against Louis if he won’t give her what she wants (“he will not have me until Marie apologizes!”). She overdoes her desire for constant stimulation, pleasures, lovers, and diamonds, constantly wanting and demanding more from her lover, the king, setting trends, and finding distractions.
