Annabelle is a natural born opportunist. She wears low cut dresses to distract her fellow poker plays with (“Ma’am, that’s the most I ever enjoyed losing!”) and comes on to Maverick to steal his wallet. She acts in the moment and takes things at face value (if Maverick can draw fast, he’s an excellent gunman; if he can beat up everyone in the street, he’s a magnificent fighter; if the Indians seem hostile, he’s obviously a hero for sacrificing himself for everyone else). Though she hasn’t learned anyone else’s tells and never listens to her hunches (preferring instead direct, risk-taking action, such as coming on to people, stealing from them, running away, or following them to get her hands on their cash), she has a cheerful, optimistic belief that everything will turn out fine, even at the last minute (inferior Ni). She is rational and good at problem solving, she anticipates and plans. She’s sensible, and detached when dealing with other people’s problems (often more interested in the profit). Annabelle pretends to be a married woman to deter men she isn’t interested in from pursuing her. She hauls out flattery, charm, and fake “regret” to appeal to the men in her life, pretending to be more helpless and innocent than she actually is. Her lack of scruples make her a fun distraction for Maverick. She becomes offended when he claims she’s a terrible thief and sets out to prove him wrong.

Annabelle doesn’t mind using people to get what she wants, but she thinks well of herself in the process. Whenever anyone tries to pin her down, she squirms out of their traps and/or gets them back with gleeful meanness (such as shrinking Brett’s shirts on purpose, when he demands she does his laundry). She laughs at him regularly and bickers about allowing him to use her gun, but not without negotiating for a decent chunk of the money. Yet, Annabelle is not keen on putting herself at risk, ever, and plays a convincing damsel in distress to make men like and protect her, so she can get away with robbing them blind. So she uses her 6 wing more to diffuse men’s expectations and plant a certain image in her head than to genuinely attach to them and have their best interests at heart.
