Brett Maverick MBTI & Enneagram | Maverick

ISTP 6w7 Characters

Maverick has a practical way of viewing things; he goes by what makes sense to him, rather than what the rest of the world thinks (“My old Pappy used to say, he who runs away, lives to run another day!’”). He watches people, learns their tells, and is willing to lose for an entire hour to do it. He’s excellent at problem-solving, even though he’s reluctant to do it on the fly, he manages to keep a cool head most of the time, and he has frequent outbursts of charm, wit, and emotion – particularly the latter under stress, where he becomes dramatic and complains about his problems (“I can’t believe it, I was going to get my arms chopped off, and she robbed me!”). Maverick tends to “babble” when he gets excited. Though he’s cautious, Maverick can adapt easily to new situations – he manages to stop the stage, he notices small sensory details about others and allows that to inform him of their poker tells (being always aware of what others are doing, and if they are holding their breath), he improvises with the bandits, he climbs out a window and swings around the ship to get to his poker game, and he often changes his mind on the spur of the moment or comes up with some story (with the “Indians”). But, he also inexplicably knows and trusts that when he really needs the right card, he can “conjure” it from the deck and win the game.

Enneagram Type: 6w7

Maverick is a walking bundle of lies and contradictions, a man who claims he can’t shoot shit and then hits everything he aims at with perfect precision, someone who says he’s selfish and cowardly and rises to every occasion (but not without much anxiety and sweat). His 6 makes him outgoing and funny, able and wanting to charm others and bond with new people as a support system, but he also has contingency plans in motion to avoid physical confrontation and gunfights – he has learned to draw quickly, he hires men to beat up, to warn off people from wanting to thrash him, etc. His anxiety comes out more when forced to improvise (but he does so competently with Se), but he often self-sacrifices for the group, and uses his friends as a trustworthy support system (most of them are unworthy). He goes out of his way to use bravado to ward off trouble, but can be knee-jerk and reactive under stress (3).
