August Booth / Pinocchio MBTI & Enneagram | Once Upon a Time

ENFP 7w6 Characters

When August figures out that he has to find a way to get Emma to break the spell, he uses big picture thinking to make it happen—he finds Neal and convinces him to leave her alone, so she can fulfill her destiny. He then writes a book of fairy tales to lead Henry to the truth about his life. Once he comes to town, he steals the book and adds more details, stories, etc., to it. As a human in the real world, when he has a magical problem, he searches out a wizard rather than to believe in traditional medicine. August starts out as selfish, only concerned with his own survival and his feelings. He knows a woman is dying of incurable cancer and still steals her money so that he can pay off the wizard to receive a cure, never once thinking about her life. Rather than think about how his actions will affect Emma, he has Neal abandon her for her own good. He comes to town and is cagey about his intentions, but still connects to Emma and invites her to come along on his bike to visit her past, where he reveals the truth about their connection. August takes direct action, and can use logical reasoning to argue his side of things, but has very little sensory awareness. He only dips into his past and drudges up stories from it as a way to bring awareness to the story book characters about their true identity.

August at first is only concerned with himself. They send him to “our world” with a mission to look after and protect Emma. The Blue Fairy tells him that as long as he is a “good boy,” he won’t turn into wood, but August spends most of his time in our world avoiding his responsibilities, running away from his fate, stealing from others to keep himself safe (cheating and then taking a woman’s money, to pay a man for a magical cure for his wooden leg), etc., until he realizes the only way to fix himself is to do his duty with Emma. So he then travels to Storybrook and becomes involved in her life, after driving her away from Neil and writing a book full of clues for Henry to find and follow to discover his true nature. His 6 wing kicks in under stress, and makes him afraid to take risks, not live up to his responsibilities, and look out for others, but his baseline is to think about his own needs and wishes.
