Dominant Introverted Sensing – a strong emphasis on being realistic and detailed, and on personal experiences being a reliable source of information: Mr. Darcy is widely heralded as an INTJ, and I’ve considered him in the past, but when you think about it, his intuition is quite poor, and his thinking skills are best used in the present moment, to take immediate action on things. His prejudice against Wickham is because of their long association together, and their shared family history; he knows Wickham to be a cad, who took his fortune and squandered it, then tried to convince Georgiana to run away with him so he could live off her money. When Wickham runs off with Lydia, Darcy tracks down all of his old haunts, until he unearths them, and forces them to get married by offering him the only thing he knows will work—a substantial sum of money not to ruin Lizzie’s family, which is a practical solution in that time. He is most at ease when at home, and takes great comfort in being in familiar surroundings; Lizzie sees a far different, more at ease version of Darcy when he as at Pemberley, where Darcy loves to ride, hunt, fish, swim in the pond, and tell his guests all about the house and grounds.
Auxiliary Extroverted Thinking – relying on facts, drawing logical conclusions, being efficient and straightforward: He makes rational decisions that sometimes devalue the emotions of those involved; breaking up Bingley and Jane because he doesn’t believe Jane is sincere in her affections, and knows his friend to be too easily emotionally won-over, breaking up Wickham and his sister, to prevent her from being used by a fortune hunter. Darcy knows the only thing that can save Lydia is to pay off the man who absconded with her, so he does that. His reserved, taciturn nature is often why he is misunderstood; he is blunt in articulating his thoughts and judgments.
Tertiary Introverted Feeling – unwilling to go against their personal values and self-contained in their feelings: He is secretive in his feelings and rarely shares them, except in a burst with Lizzie when he proposes to her, is turned down flat (because he insulted her family), and then is horrified to learn what she truly thinks of him. Darcy defends himself with a letter stating the facts of his association with Wickham, to set the record straight.
Inferior Extroverted Intuition – curious about the future and in different possibilities, but skeptical of “unrealistic” ideas: His low Ne is a problem. While Darcy has good intentions, he is wrong in all of his assumptions. His mistakes Jane for being out to get Bingley’s money, based on how her family acts (Si) rather than intuitive understanding (she is actually in love with his best friend and has no nefarious motives). And he causes Lydia’s misfortune by saving his sister from Wickham, and then refusing to make the man’s actions public—to save face, without thinking that doing so could cause trouble for someone else in the future. Simply because the Bennetts had no money, he never thought any of them would become a target. He is also unaware of the degree to which Lizzie dislikes him, until she informs him of her feelings after his proposal.

Enneagram 1 – a perfectionist who focuses on the ‘right’ way to exist and wants to shape events to fit their ideals: Mr. Darcy is often thought of as critical and proud by others who encounter him; and even Mr. Bennett expects him to find fault with everyone he meets, and for little to live up to his expectations. It’s true, his standards are high, and he is most disapproving of a great many things—bad manners, poor public behavior, fortune-hunting women, and disreputable men. He spurns Mr. Collins for talking to him without being properly introduced, and has a list of reasons why he can’t marry Lizzie due to her abominable family, but finds himself falling in love with her regardless. Darcy is critical and judgy at times, but also, when he realizes he has been in the wrong, goes out of his way to make amends and undo all the mistakes he made—he tracks down Wickham and forces him to marry Lydia by paying him off, to save Lizzie’s family (it is his fault, since he warned no one of the man’s poor character), he tells the truth to Bingley about Jane being in town and encourages him to propose to her, and he makes amends to Lizzie in however way he can.
2 wing brings in a self-assurance that what they are doing for others is what is good, right, and needed: But he also states in his letter to Lizzie that he feels no wrong was done in anything he did, that he did his best by his friend, and with good intentions, so justifying his actions. His 2 wing is rather… forward. He uses it to save Lydia and her sisters from ruin, but also intervenes in his best friend’s love affairs to pull him away from Jane, assuming she is only after his money. He also concealed the truth about his sister partly to protect her and to maintain their pristine family image.
