Priscilla Presley MBTI & Enneagram | Priscilla

ISFP 9w1 Characters

Dominant Introverted Feeling – a self-knowledge and a desire to live in accordance with one’s personal values: Priscilla is very emotional but keeps a lot of it bottled up inside of her; she never talks to anyone else about her feelings and rarely shows them in front of people. She cares deeply about Elvis but suffers in silence in his absence. Her feelings are easily bruised, but she doesn’t really talk about it to anyone else. It frustrates her that she wants to go all the way with Elvis much sooner than he allows it, and she complains that he keeps her on a pedestal and won’t allow her to give in to “her impulses.” Priscilla is very clear about her feelings for him from the start. She doesn’t understand why they have to wait, when both of them feel so sexually attracted to each other.

Auxiliary Extroverted Sensing – acting on one’s feelings through living in the moment and hands-on learning: Prisilla is very much a sensory-driven person; she cares about fashion and appearances, even going out of her way to get dressed in a cute outfit and put on her long eyelashes while having contractions so she looks good arriving at the hospital. It excites her to go to parties, and to be involved in Elvis’ life, but she is also easily bored and under-stimulated being shut up at Graceland. She starts taking uppers and downers because Elvis is doing it, leading to her own minor problems with recreational drug use.

Tertiary Introverted Intuition – specific insights and premonitions, and a singular state of mind: Priscilla’s low Ni shows in her total, absolute conviction that she belongs with Elvis, forever. Even after a year has passed without much contact, while she’s watched him in magazines get tied up with other women, she remains firm and immovable in his “need for me” and that they belong together. It’s only after she experiences more of life on her own that she realizes how trapped she feels in their relationship and wants out of it.

Inferior Extroverted Thinking – blunt and irritated by incompetence when under stress or overly focused on “the facts”: Her low Te shows in her infrequent outbursts, almost all of which wind up with her in tears because she over-asserted herself (9) and now is upset that it has caused emotional distress (Elvis yells at her a few times, tells her to get out of the house, and even throws things at her).

Elvis seems to be the same type as the typing from the Elvis biopic.

Enneagram 9 – desires freedom from others’ influences, by going along with them and being tolerant, until it matters not to: Prisilla immediately shuts down whenever anyone challenges her or tells her what to do; she allows Elvis to craft her entire appearance, her wardrobe, tell her who she can hang out with and who she can’t. His father barks at her and cows her into not speaking to Elvis’ secretaries. She is unhappy being so alone and isolated as a teenager at Elvis’ house, but can do nothing about it, so she expresses little bouts of frustration (when Elvis talks about how they must control themselves and be pure, she asks what about HER desires and needs?) but always winds up doing what is asked of her, rather than asserting herself, until long after their marriage when Elvis goes on tour, leaving her alone in their California house for long periods of time. Now she can have friends, take martial arts lessons, grow out her hair, and figure out what she wants for her own life, which ultimately leads to her leaving him at the end; she tells him he is not losing her to another man, but to a LIFE.

1 wing brings in a desire for moral rightness and perfection: Priscilla never fights back against Elvis, presumably out of a self-belief that she needs to remain small and contained in her emotional state, that a good person would be accommodating and quiet, and not stir up trouble (which is how 1 wings convince 9s to remain inert and/or to ignore what’s in front of them).
