MBTI Type: ISFJ
Asta is a very down to earth woman, who has a lot of past history she carries around with her, rather than living in the now. She knows and remembers everything about the people she works with, enough to tell that something is off with Harry compared to the person she knew before, and to be suspicious about the events surrounding her boss’ death. When things do not add up, she follows the clues and collects details, but prefers not to make any intuitive leaps without having solid evidence. She is a good nurse who uses her skills to help people, but her blind spot is that she doesn’t see through their ill intentions. When Harry assures her the device he is looking for is a radio, rather than something that could destroy the planet, she takes him at his word. She never thinks that her daughter might be stealing from her office, and instead, accuses her husband of doing it (because it matches up with her prior experience with his bad behavior). Asta constantly encourages Harry to try and have a better bedside manner, to handle people’s feelings carefully, and tries not to take what blunt things he tells her too personally even if it’s offensive. She is a warm and caring presence in the office, who makes all of her decisions with her feelings, and often confides them in other people, as they happen to her (talking to her dad about what is going on, not wanting to hurt her daughter by telling her the truth, discussing how upset she is that she let her daughter be adopted, and how much guilt she feels for not being there for her). Asta is a good problem solver who thinks outside the box, and tries to understand Harry, his world, where he is coming from, and what he wants.
Enneagram: 2w1
Asta winds up taking care of people, even when they are ungrateful, although she is irritated by it—when Harry wakes up after having his leg chopped off and tells her to get out of his house, he has other things to do, Asta gets offended and points out that she spent all night taking care of him, and this is the thanks she gets? Then she sticks around to help him out some more, gets him out of trouble, keeps his secret from other people, covers for him, and tries to help him remember that he is an alien. She comes to his rescue in the cave, even though she is freaked out by his alien appearance and blue blood, and even winds up sticking her hand into his chest cavity (mind the teeth!) to help clear his passageways of blood so he can survive. Then she steals her friend’s truck, and uses her dad’s walk-in freezer as an operating table, because she can’t just leave someone alone who needs her help. Asta felt so much guilt about allowing her daughter to be put up for adoption as a teenager that she has gotten her a job at the local clinic (but didn’t tell her the truth about who she is) and rescues her from being drunk at a teen rave. She is also very particular and opinionated about right and wrong, the correct behaviors to have, and things such as gratitude and caring about other people and their feelings.
