MBTI Type: ESTP
Evan is an opportunist of the highest order, who encourages his brother to move to the Hamptons and start up a movable medical practice, who immediately starts raking in cash and purchasing himself fine things, who takes over driving Hank’s car when a wealthy client sends it to him as a thank you, and who takes everything at face value at first. He is somewhat shameless in his willingness to ‘fake’ things to make others like him, including posing as a girl’s fake fiancé with her parents, and then actually falling in love with her (and calling himself a “whore” for accepting money and clothes for it at first). But at times, his keen eye for business (including wanting to franchise, to print t-shirts, and to have a whole line of promotional items) takes a wrong turn, as he winds up being kidnapped in Cuba while pursing expensive cigars, his father wipes out the bank account after Evan foolishly gave him access to it, and he gets shot in the butt by a general on his first hunting trip. He is quite logical and able to know where to easily make a buck, but his lower Fe has a desperate need to impress people, to have their approval, and to be seen as one of the ‘cool’ kids. Evan doesn’t think in the long term except fearfully when he is concerned that all they’ve been working toward could be lost. He is also wrong about people on several occasions, including thinking Divya’s boyfriend is a creep and setting him up with an exotic dancer, only to find out they just talked the entire time.
Enneagram: 7w6
Evan is the ‘thinker’ to his brother’s gut/heart reactions. He thinks, all the time, about everything—mostly in a positive, self-confident kind of way, but with occasional spirals into suspicion, doubt, and investigating of those he thinks are up to something; he particularly becomes concerned with Hank dating the enemy, and calls attention to how it could threaten the wonderful financial success they have set up for themselves in the Hamptons. Evan, though, is quite confident, impulsive, and industrious, always thinking of himself in positive ways, assuming he can do everything, looking for ways to self-market for “HankMed,” chasing girls, and finding little tricks by which to monetize things. He thinks there’s a silver lining to every cloud, and is idealistic in how he wants to believe the best of his father, even when his father cheats them, steals their money, runs out on them, or gets involved with bad company. (Evan does become disheartened at times, and suspicious of his behavior, so he watches his father, follows him around, and reads through his lawyer’s files on his recent activities.)
