David Larrabee MBTI & Enneagram | Sabrina

ESFP 7w6 Characters

Dominant Extroverted Sensing – living in the moment, hands-on opportunism, and learning by doing: David does nothing but “play” all day – and at night, he beds the latest beautiful woman, without hesitation or seeing any need to wait, get to know her better, etc. Though engaged to anther woman, he can’t help picking up Sabrina, driving her home, flirting with her, and “instantly falling in love” with her, which causes his brother to make him sit on a pair of champagne flutes just to avoid a financial disaster.

Auxiliary Introverted Feeling – a self-knowledge and a desire to live in accordance with one’s personal values: David’s feelings for people change so fast, others can’t keep up with them; he embodies the most out of every situation and takes full advantage of it (dozens of hobbies, tennis, sports cars, sexual encounters, travel, etc). He is emotionally driven and not at all able to fake emotions he is not feeling, which is problematic when it comes to his future father-in-law being suspicious of his behavior. But David does care enough about Sabrina and his brother to recognize that his brother has fallen for her, and makes it possible for Linus to follow Sabrina to Paris so they can begin a life together.

Tertiary Extroverted Thinking – a desire to assess the facts of a situation and get things done efficiently: He uses his lower Te to show a surprising amount of business sense (though something of a partier, he has “been doing this company’s financials” for years; his mother just assumed he wouldn’t notice her copying all of his reports).

Inferior Introverted Intuition – a desire to experience deeper meaning and a singular path, but sometimes being wrong in their intuitive conclusions: David lives so much in the moment, he’s incapable of thinking past the present and is almost willing to flush his life down the toilet for a woman he barely knows just because she’s beautiful.

Enneagram: 7w6

Enneagram 7 – a playful and quick-witted optimist who stays in constant motion and is always looking to the future: As Linus points out, David never finishes anything; he’s had dozens of expensive hobbies that he got into, realized were too hard and quit, or just got bored with, ranging from musical instruments to tennis lessons to various college degrees and career moves, although he spends the vast majority of his time doing nothing but living as a hedonist, bedding women, having a succession of brief and meaningless flings, and charming everyone just by being “David.” He has an excuse for all of his decisions, often arguing that he really doesn’t feel this lifestyle or choice is for him, that he isn’t culpable, and blaming Linus for his engagement. David insists he was pressured into it, that it’s wrong for his brother to use his girlfriend to create a merger, etc. He is overall playful, likable, and generous with his time, energy, and everyone else’s money (“I told her we’d donate a couple of million dollars”).

6 wing brings in a desire for a solid support system and occasional self-doubts: It’s only at the end of the film where David matures, shows he has business sense, and is willing to “grow up” and become a businessman, so his brother can have a life for once with a woman he feels strongly about. David does want to be in good standing with his family, and to reconcile with his girlfriend, so that he has a support system.
