Xavier Baxter MBTI & Enneagram | School Spirits

ISTP 9w8 Characters

Xavier is pretty detached and able to deal with being a social outcast, but has occasional moments where his low Fe flare up and cause him problems, such as losing his temper under stress and getting into fights, telling his dad he isn’t ready to go back to school because being cleared of Maddie’s murder is just going to make it worse, and being gun-shy about honesty in his relationships. He can sort-of lead people on when he wants to get on their good side, and finds it comforting to locate others who want to find Maddie as much as he does, but does not go out of his way to be fake, even when he’s trying to set up the girl he cheated on Maddie with, to find out if she had anything to do with Maddie’s disappearance and presumed death. Xavier is also known for being opportunistic; he cuts class to cheat on Maddie, then makes up a story when she catches him in his truck, sends a text to warn his secret girlfriend off, and realizes he accidentally sent it to Maddie, so he steals her phone to erase it, but can’t figure out the pass code, and then winds up hiding the entire thing from the police, which implicates him in murder. He tried to convince Maddie to sleep with him in the backseat of a car in auto shop, then killed a mouse with a cement block when she heard it squeaking. Elsewhere, he visits her mother to collect information, skips school, goes investigating in the woods on his own, and enters an abandoned building to search for clues, even venturing up on top of the school in the hopes of finding Maddie or some evidence of her whereabouts there. Whatever speculations he has about her death he keeps to himself, making him a tough nut to crack and look suspicious in the eyes of Simon and others at the school.

Enneagram: 9w8

Xavier is a hard character to figure out, and I’m not totally convinced of his Enneagram type, other than withdrawn. But he does seem like your typical loner, with hazy moral attitudes (going along with things to keep others happy, and hiding his true wants and needs from them to avoid confrontations) and a generally optimistic viewpoint when it suits him (hoping that Maddie is alive and trying to find her, where others assume she is dead). He gets nervous under stress, particularly when his girlfriend stops the car to talk to him about a few things (he’s afraid she has found out they are spying on her), and toward the end of the first season, becomes more cooperative with Simon and his friends in figuring out what happened, showing a potential movement toward 6 in opening up himself to be less of a moody loner. He is not held back by being critical; instead, he can be assertive, combative, and not really care what others think about him or his decisions, making excuses about why he kept information from the police, getting into a fight at school with Simon over how he treated Maddie, etc.
