Dominant Introverted Thinking – striving to understand how things work to hack existing systems: Sister Boniface is extremely logical and detached; she has “a great mind,” and is naturally analytical. Her father hates that she became a nun, because it’s a “waste of her tremendous intellect,” and he doesn’t understand how she could trade in science for religion. But she doesn’t see that as incompatible. Sister Boniface is always the one doing the analyzing, synthesizing, and experimenting when anyone is murdered; she collects evidence, takes it back to her laboratory, and tests for fingerprints, blood types, and other things. She often is quite frank and perplexed by people’s emotions.
Auxiliary Extroverted Intuition – finding out what is theoretically possible and focusing on those possibilities: Her imagination is powerful; she is interested in dozens of different topics, hobbies, and interests, and knows a lot about all of them, from plants and science to popular movies and knitting patterns. Boniface is often found fantasizing about herself in different lives, from rock stars to mad scientists, and gets lost in her thoughts a good deal. She dabbles in a lot of things, and is good at most of them (chess, botany, etc.) She often has an “aha” moment in which she theorizes ahead of her sensory-driven friends and companions and figures out who did it or why, and then has to find a motive or evidence to support it.
Tertiary Introverted Sensing – attentiveness to specific details in a field of interest and a preference for routine: Boniface collects lots of details in her investigation, and has a good mind for many different topics. She knows about a lot of things in-depth and can easily remember facts, details, etc., from the crime scene and/or from books she has read. She learns things quickly through repetition.
Inferior Extroverted Feeling – an awkwardness around emotions and little desire to meet others’ expectations: Her low Fe is obvious; she is pleasant but never tries to affect the emotional environment. When people get upset, she isn’t sure what to do other than pat them awkwardly on the shoulder or hand them a handkerchief or a cup of tea.

Enneagram 9 – desires freedom from others’ influences, by going along with them and being tolerant, until it matters not to: Sister Boniface is always apologizing to everyone—for talking, for taking up space, for giggling inappropriately, for winning at chess (even though she happily wins, and likes to psyche out her opponents by asking them pertinent questions during the match). She is pleasant, good-natured, not easily offended, and doesn’t react much of the time to things intended to shock her or throw her off guard. She is free-spirited, but has withdrawn from society to become a nun; when her father wants her to investigate potential Russian spies, at first she thinks he’s “batty” but then listening to him, she sees his side and considers that it has merit. She will phone her friends and if their angry landlady answers, will hang up without saying anything and grimacing because she ‘disturbed’ them.
1 wing brings in a desire for moral rightness and perfection: Boniface does have some firm views, but she wraps them inside of a velvet glove, and is very polite, pleasant, and punctual. She doesn’t like to pass too severe of judgment on people, but she will occasionally point out how unpleasant or cruel they were in the course of their criminal activities.
