Donald Ressler MBTI & Enneagram | The Blacklist

MBTI Type: ESTJ

Ressler is a facts-driven agent who cares about closing his cases, gathering factual information to support his conclusions, and doing things properly. He loves to be in charge and easily arranges security teams to keep people protected. He meticulously goes about his job, finding out details, pointing to past experience when trying to relate to others (he has gone through a rough breakup, so he thinks he understands where Liz is coming from when he assumes she’s had a fight with her husband), and doesn’t see much point in speculations that lack direct evidence. He is skeptical of intuitive leaps, since he prefers to act based on what he sees and to rely on reliable information. Ressler will change his mind about people given enough time with them, but it takes a while for him to build up his trust toward others. He cares about doing his job well, being there for his family and friends, and protecting his country, but is never openly emotional, doesn’t talk about the problems in his life, and prefers to remain professional.

Enneagram: 1w2

Ressler does things by the book and wants to make sure he follows up on all the details, crosses every line, and dots every T. He is principled and disapproving of them working with Raymond Reddington, whom he sees as a criminal who should pay for his evil deeds. Given the choice between saving his own life and giving up Reddington, however, when criminals come to collect him, Ressler refuses to back down from his job. He sticks to what he’s been told to do (protect Red) and gets shot and almost dies in the process; Red saving his life lets him respect the criminal mastermind more. He also shows a lot of 2 in that he is supportive and helpful to his coworkers. When Liz is going through a hard time in her marriage, Ressler is supportive and wants to help her. He opens up his home to her, tells her she is welcome to talk whenever she needs to, and offers to be with her when she finds and interrogates her husband.
