Pumbaa MBTI & Enneagram | The Lion King

INFP 9w8 Characters

Pumbaa admits “I’m a sensitive soul, and it hurt that my friends never stood downwind!” He shows much more concern for Simba’s feelings than Timon, but does not always know what is “wrong” with Simba. He does not influence his friends to change, nor allow them to change him much (except in moderating his language, for the kids!), but enjoys focusing on their greater potential, which ties into his extroverted intuition, in that he can see what Timon cannot. It’s Pumbaa who sees a lion, and thinks, “Hey, maybe he could be our friend,” instead of “he’s going to eat me.” Pumbaa, who lies around and contemplates what the stars could be made of (and guesses correctly). But, Pumbaa also has a sense of past precedent in his approach to life; he’s gotten so used to a life of idleness, he doesn’t think of changing it on his own. He has preconceived notions about lions when he meets Nala, but soon abandons them when he realizes Simba is her friend.

Enneagram: 9w8

Pumbaa is quite content to live a life of leisure with no larger ambitions, and he’s also far more open-minded than Timon. Where Timon sees a predator, Pumbaa sees a potential friend in the lion cub they find in the desert. He is always hopeful, happy, and offended when rejected by others because of his flatulence. Easily influenced and sweet, Pumbaa can get worked up and see red from time to time as well. When this happens, he will use his tusks to kick butt in all directions, fighting off multiple hyenas and looking for more!
