Dominant Extroverted Intuition – chasing after idealistic possibilities, conjuring up theories, and focusing on what’s happening in the bigger picture: Rafiki is a curious fellow. His abstract approach to teaching Simba does not mesh well with Simba, who would rather he was plainspoken instead of complex. Rafiki reverses his initial perceptions about Simba and his destiny, based on new information as it arises (he thinks he’s the future of the Pride Lands, then he’s dead and off the map, but once he figures out Simba is alive, Rafiki goes to tell him to learn from the past and embrace his destiny). He seeks ideas and wisdom outside himself (in his magic) to inform and reinforce his views, and uses a process of sensory comparison and past-based ideas (how the world works) to nudge Simba toward his greater destiny. Instead of trying to explain his thought process in depth, he uses visual cues and riddles to engage with Simba, before he shares his deeper wisdom – “Your father lives on in you.”
Auxiliary Introverted Thinking – looking for loopholes to exploit existing systems, and a desire for logical consistency: Like a lot of sidelined Disney characters, Rafiki doesn’t have a solid demonstration of Ti, other than to be mysterious, obscure, and reclusive in what he means. Rather than being straightforward and getting to the point (which is a skill that Extroverted Thinkers have), Rafiki tells riddles and stories. He has his own unique way of looking at the world and how he conceptualizes it, which… uh, really makes no sense to anyone else, especially the more concrete Simba!
Tertiary Extroverted Feeling – gauging the emotional environment with a desire to influence it in their favor, and often being out of touch with their true feelings: His Fe shows in a general zaniness, eccentricity, a willingness to “play the fool,” and in his overall attitude of the greater well-being of the Pride Lands, with little emotional involvement or exploration. He likes to mess with people and get them to agree with him, and he has a general concern for the welfare of those within the Pride Lanes.
Inferior Introverted Sensing – skewed sentimentality toward particular items or beliefs, a loss of details: Rafiki shows little Si other than in his willingness to adhere to a somewhat traditional view of how life works in the Pride Lands, and his encouragement of Simba that he will be a good king, because of who he is (his royal bloodline), which shows faith in a past-precedent kind of way.

Enneagram 7 – a playful and quick-witted optimist who stays in constant motion and is always looking to the future: Rafiki is an unapologetic “nut” who loves to mess with others rather than give them straight answers and takes a great deal of delight and amusement in himself. He is often laughing hysterically, and this causes Simba to think he’s a nut. He attracts Simba with goofy behavior and mysterious whispers until he convinces him that a bright future awaits him if he will only accept his responsibilities (his superego wing). Rafiki is delighted to theorize that Simba is alive, and there’s hope for the future after all, and immediately sets out to make this vision a reality by traveling to find him.
8 wing brings in gut-energy to assert themselves to get what they want, and a fearless ability to defy others: Instead of taking the time to explain what he means to Simba (as a 6 wing would), Rafki messes with him and even bashes him on the head with his stick. He intends to do it again, until Simba rips the stick away from him, showing that he’s generally unafraid of being cheeky, brazen, and aggressive toward a much larger animal than himself, who doesn’t know him at all and who could rip him apart.
