Simba MBTI & Enneagram | The Lion King

ESFP 3w2 Characters

Simba is a flamboyant, extroverted young lion who enjoys throwing himself into dangerous and unknown situations, whose curiosity leads him to abandon the Pride Lands for the Elephant Graveyard, even though his father warned him to stay within the light. Once he falls in with his new friends, Simba becomes complacent about responsibilities and indulges his enjoyment of a life of pleasure and idleness; but he is prone to rapid decisions and acting on his feelings—when he becomes convinced he must return and take the throne, he doesn’t even hesitate to inform his friends! His inferior Ni shows in his total trust in his uncle, Scar, his inability to read between the lines of Scar’s deceit, and his desire to believe in something greater than himself. Sensitive and kind, Simba cannot live with the idea that he killed his father, so upon his uncle’s advice, he runs away… and continues running until he finds people who know nothing about his true self to bond with. There, he remains sensitive to criticism (“Yeah, yeah, pretty dumb, huh?”) but rarely wants to talk about his past, and will go off to be alone, to deal with his feelings. As a cub, Simba tries to assert himself by giving orders (“In which case, you’re fired!”) but as an adult, acts on his feelings. He has a playful but strong-willed way about him.

Enneagram: 3w2

Simba’s song as a cub is all about how important and powerful he will be as an adult. He’s ambitious and focused on looking good, doesn’t like to play by the rules or be humiliated; Scar can easily manipulate him by talking about his “little roar.” Simba spends a lot of his time with Timon and Pumba disintegrated into an unhealthy 9 state – being lazy, non-ambitious, idling his life away doing nothing, and feeling no desire to chase after his former ambitious ideas of being king until Nala shames him into action. His 2 wing makes him playful and want to help others.
