Nick is an opportunist of the highest order, who steals from a girl after sleeping with her and then tries to explain that he meant nothing ill by it. He accidentally frees Ahmanet from her prison, because he doesn’t want to wait around for archeologists to explore the tomb; he just hacks through the chains holding her sarcophagus down in the pool and yanks it up. He goes into hand to hand combat with Dr. Jekyll and manages not to die in the process, as well as steals a car, betrays a mummy, etc. He tries to steal from the tomb, but Jenny catches him at it—and he has been using his work with the military as “cover” for tomb-robbing (as his boss says, it was pretty smart of him to steal stuff, and then let the ravages of war conceal his crimes). This shows he has a quick and logical mind (doing this makes “sense”) but is not exactly interested in living up to any morals other than “get what I want.” He does show more Fe as the story goes along, but at first is just reactive on an emotional level to the idea of Jenny leaving others thinking he is a bad lover who under-performs in the bedroom (“why did you say sixty seconds?!”). Later, he learns to care about her life and feels remorse at some of his actions, but he deals with all of his problems with practical solutions. He has no long term solutions or goals, and seeing into the future/past through visions unsettles him; by the end of the film, he is determined to travel the world and find a cure for his curse.

At one point, after Nick has gotten his best friend into trouble, he screams “let me think!” while bombs are going off around them… and then he agrees that they are done for, but assumes it will turn out fine anyway. He is optimistic and re-frames any comments made about himself, because he can’t stand to see himself in a negative light. He argues with Jenny when she trash-talks him about how “long” his genuine “feelings” lasted, and doesn’t understand why she assumes he had no heartfelt connection to her… I mean, most guys sneak out in the morning after a one night stand and steal things while they are at it, right? He is quick to react and can act from the gut, which sometimes gets him into trouble when he frees Ahmanet from her imprisonment; but he also quickly saves Jenny’s life several times, and is willing to take on and assumes he can “defeat” an ancient evil in the process.
