Leela Devi MBTI & Enneagram | The Resident

ENTJ 3w2 Characters

Leela is a very logical woman, who makes decisions based on the facts of the situation; she has concerns about her sister wanting to get pregnant because of her cavalier lifestyle (her twin sister has never held down a job and lives out of her car, so how can she take care of kids?). She resists donating her eggs to help her sister at first, and has a volatile reaction to her boyfriend suggesting he donate the sperm, because that would make this child ‘their baby’ but not raised by them. In fact, Leela is very career focused. She intends to do well, to become a top surgeon, she comes into the hospital fully qualified and self-confident, and she does not have any time or interest in being a mom for a long time. She is focused on doing the impossible, in building up her career, and in thinking about the future. Leela often instinctively figures out how to do things, or knows something is wrong with her sister, and reaches out to reconnect with her. She likes to think about things before committing to them, and has very little interest in traditional lifestyles. She rejects her parents’ attempts to convince her to get married and have kids, and tells her boyfriend that she has neither in mind. Over time, she does start to change her mind. They even break up over it, until she reconnects with her true feelings and tries to find common ground with him again. Leela shows her low Se in how reckless she can be; she assumes way more of her body than is physically possible, and takes on too many surgeries. She pulls 48 hour shifts in a row, and has to be taken off a surgery at the last minute because she falls asleep mid-process. It breaks her heart to be told she can’t specialize in multiple fields at once, without compromising the integrity of what she is trying to accomplish. Her inferior Fi is evident as well. Leela is out of touch with her feelings until something directly hits them; she doesn’t realize how much she cares about her boyfriend until she loses him. She is often curt with her sister and unsupportive, then feels bad about it and makes it up to her, but struggles not to judge her for her chaotic life choices rather than choosing stability. Leela is extremely defensive about her relationship, and draws a strong boundary when Devon offers to be a sperm doner; she tells him that would “end” their relationship, and she wants to hear nothing more about it.

Enneagram: 3w2

Leela is an over-achiever, who takes on too much because she is fully confident, she can do it, and who is told repeatedly by other doctors that she can’t specialize in several different kinds of medical surgery all at one time. She over-works herself into exhaustion by taking double shifts, wanting to show up for surgeries to learn from other surgeons even when she’s busy and/or tired, and winds up being forced to admit that she “can’t do it all.” But it is a painful process for her, since she assumed she had super-human abilities and could draw on them to be everything for everyone all at once. Leela wants to achieve, to win, and to be impressive, to do things no one else has ever accomplished, but she also wants to be a good person, to look after her patients well, and puts a lot of time and effort into her relationships. It’s just that she often benches her feelings and tries to work around them, rather than deeply connects through them, as she puts aside her heart to ‘get stuff done.’
