Sophie MBTI & Enneagram | The School for Good and Evil

ENFP 7w6 Characters

Sophie is an idealistic dreamer who has fantasies about going to a magical school, and truly believes that someone will come and fetch her away—unlike her more practical best friend. She believes in spells and faeries and lovely things, and then is terribly upset not only when she doesn’t get exactly what she wants, but also these things do not live up to her expectations. She’s expected to become hideous and evil, instead of being a lavish and pampered princess. Sophie is also rather naïve and overly trusting, and she assumes she can somehow thwart the ancient magic of the school and get her own way, by proving she is truly good deep in her soul. ENFPs tend to ignore the rules that they don’t feel involve them, especially in the realm of discounting “how things work” in favor of their idealized desires. It doesn’t matter to her that nobody has ever switched schools, and that the schools themselves have ancient traditions—she devalues them in a lower Si way. She is also utterly worthless in the woods, and cannot do anything for herself—a “true princess” in the sense that she needs rescued, and doesn’t think to act on the prince’s behalf even when she’s convinced they are in love with each other. It’s Agatha (a sensor) who tells her to pick up a stick and fight for him, or “do ANYTHING.” Sophie mostly just watches, gapes, and does magic, and then wreaks havoc later with her ideas and creativity more than directly. She’s fiercely independent, doesn’t care what anyone thinks of her, and sees everyone as beneath her apart from Agatha. But she wants them to attend the school together. It’s the nature of Fi to be selective and unconcerned with merging into the environment, and she refuses to do the latter, won’t learn her lessons, and isn’t particularly concerned with the idea of being kicked out of school. She shows her low Te mostly in how extraordinarily blunt she can be at times, in telling people off, but she’s mostly guided by her dreamy nature and ambitions, rather than being rational about any of her ideas.

Enneagram: 7w6

Sophie starts out as very selfish and only invested in pursuing her own happiness. It never dawns on her that her friend has any needs, or that she should care what happens to her. She is idealistic, assertive, and driven to get what she wants. Sophie needs and wants the world around her to be a beautiful place; she doesn’t want to be a witch because they are evil and ugly; she would rather be a princess. She is ambitious in pursuing this goal and willing to take risks for it, but also denies being a bad person—a manifestation of her super-ego wing’s desire to see herself in a positive light. Even when Sophie decides to go “evil,” she does so with a genuine relish in how much she stands out. She decides to go full-bore evil, accept blood magic, and wreak havoc at the school. But ultimately, she does the right thing and goes back to doing what she thinks is right—which includes saving her best friend’s life by leaping in front of a dagger meant for her, and being willing to go home without Agatha so she can stay behind with her prince instead.
