Wallace is a good best friend to Veronica in that he’s up for anything—need to go stop some bad guys? On it. Drive down the coast? There. Bump into someone in the hallway and drop a phone in their bag? Sure! His interests are mostly sports—he plays basketball and is a competent natural athlete. Because of Wallace, the betting on his team skyrockets when he becomes the “starter” because they know he’ll help them win. He rarely thinks much beyond the moment and gets into physical fights with people when they try to hurt his friends. Wallace leaves most of the theorizing up to Veronica about cases; he just does the ‘grunt work’ of stealing files for her from the office where he works (and sometimes, if this gets him time with a pretty female volunteer, all the better!). It could get him expelled, but hey, it’s worth it. Wallace is fairly rational in his decisions, but mostly shows solid tert-Fe. He’s good at comforting people. He vents about Veronica and his mom dating and how uncomfortable it makes him (Veronica begs him to stop “over-sharing”). When someone threatens to kill the school parrot if he doesn’t drop out of a game, Wallace says as much as he wants to win, he cares about the parrot more. He is very much into being accepted, being with the cool kids, and being popular, but does not forget about Veronica when his high school fame “takes off.”

Wallace loves to be the center of (positive) attention. He is upbeat, self-confident, and eager to engage with people—in returning a woman’s lost dog to her, he says outside her door “Please be hot, single, and grateful!” Even though they strung him up on a pole on his first day at school, he hasn’t let that beat him down and enjoyed pulling one over on Weevil. He loves it when he’s the star player on the basketball team and gets “spirit boxes” slipped into his locker every day, then is amused to find out Veronica has been doing it (it doesn’t hurt his ego at all). Up for anything Veronica gets him involved with, he can usually play up whatever persona she forces upon him (boyfriend, thug, best friend, innocent bystander) and help her get the drop on people. He’s fairly assertive; when his mom’s tenant misbehaves, she has to drag Wallace away and remind him to “set a good example for your brother” because he wanted to get into a physical altercation with the guy. A good-natured do-gooder, Wallace is forever helping Veronica, a hot girl, etc., but it’s usually for a reason. He’s genuinely nice, but also likes gratitude.
