Brie is a beautiful and bombastic woman who doesn’t hesitate to get involved whenever she goes; she quickly adapts to new situations and encourages Brady to get out of his comfort zone, even getting him to dance in a bar because “I feel like it.” At first, she seems like a “screw-up,” Jack’s kid sister that needs him to intervene for her, but as the series unfolds, we find out she’s really doing physical things to distract her from her trauma—drinking, hanging out with the wrong people, and hooking up with men. She buries all this pain deep inside and can hardly talk about it until she’s ready. Even then, she is very assertive in affirming what is and isn’t her feelings, what she needs and wants from others, and in reminding them to keep their distance and respect her boundaries. Brie is also an excellent lawyer who gives legal advice, is ambitious and driven in her career, and wants to make something of herself professionally. But she is not a long term thinker, is often caught off guard by others because she takes them at face value or at their word, and only really knows that she doesn’t want to move back to LA.

Brie came to Virgin River to mostly escape her former life as an attorney, and when she first arrives, she buries most of her pain about her rape in drinking and hanging out with the wrong crowd. She meets Brady and rapidly falls into bed with him as a distraction from her past, then finds it hard to admit to her rape, but when she finally does, she decides for herself to stand up to her rapist in court. She doesn’t need others’ approval for her decisions, either, and just asks them to “support” her (such as Jack). She doesn’t want her power taken away from her, and is very confident and assertive in her decisions… but also has trust issues. When she finds out Brady has been running drugs, and lying to her about it, she ends the relationship and moves on from him rather quickly to someone she sees as more stable and reliable (a cop).
