Charmaine is unfortunately, an unhealthy (Fe user – manipulative, cunning, and able to use people’s feelings against them. She intentionally blames Mel for breaking up her and Jack, refusing to admit that her being pregnant is her responsibility. She can’t stand the idea of not being attractive to Jack, so she has to shame other people and tells Mel if she would just back off and/or go home, then Charmaine and her kids would have a chance at happiness with Jack. She often calls on him and guilt-trips him about his intentions, his feelings for her, and uses emotional blackmail against him. Charmaine has emotional tantrums, reads too much into things and won’t hear no for an answer; even though Jack has told her many times that he doesn’t care about her or what she does, she assumes she can change his mind and sees him being nice to her, or buying a house for the twins, as an indication that they can live together. When she finds out this isn’t true, she immediately finds another guy, convinces him to marry her, and then rubs her happiness in Jack’s face. She’s incapable of evaluating her own feelings or judgments, and cannot be rational or detached about anyone’s behaviors. She has her heart set on Jack, and she thinks if she just gives him sex and is pleasing to him for long enough, he will change his mind and fall in love with her—refusing to see any outcome other than this one, even though he is straightforward with her and says he isn’t interested in anything deeper. She immediately sees Mel as a threat and tries to thwart her attraction to Jack. Charmine is always manipulating things to the end she wants, and talking about the future; even some of her tactics with Jack reference the future ‘he wants to have’ with their twins. (When he doesn’t want to have lunch with her new fiancé, she says well fine, but you need to think about the future you intend to have with our kids, implying that they may cut him out completely if he doesn’t do what they want.) Charmaine is impulsive and reactive, using her body to attract attention, getting engaged in three weeks to a guy she barely knows, and planning an expensive wedding. She cares a lot about appearances, urges Hope to change her life, and considers moving away from Virgin River to live elsewhere with her new husband in a big, fancy home.

Charmaine isn’t the healthiest kind of 2. She’s incredibly manipulative and thinks she’s a catch, so she can’t understand why Jack hasn’t fallen head over heels for her. After all, she’s slept with him for two years! Brought him all kinds of treats! Baked him cookies! Supported him in all of his endeavors! When she finds him happy with Mel, she immediately finds herself another man and gets engaged within three weeks, then implies that Jack is going to have to behave himself if he wants any rights with his kids. Prior to this, she messed with him and Mel, made overtures, manipulated him into spending the night with her, taking care of her plumbing problems, and took any generosity on his part as a sign that they were supposed to be together. She is very careful to always come out looking good, to deny she has done or said anything wrong, or to infer that she has played a role in other people’s relational problems. Charmaine also likes to draw attention to her career, her success as a businesswoman, and her ability to attract men.
