Principle Dort MBTI & Enneagram | Wednesday

Discover why Principal Dort from Wednesday fits the ENTP 7w6 personality type, blending chaotic creativity with people-pleasing charm.

Principal Dort, played by Steve Buscemi in Netflix’s Wednesday, brings a chaotic, fast-talking energy of an ENTP 7w6 to Nevermore Academy. Quick-witted, idea-driven, and constantly trying to keep the school both innovative and socially appealing, Dort thrives on possibilities and momentum. However, beneath his eccentric humor and showman-like leadership lies a dark underbelly and evil intentions.

A wildly enthusiastic man with no respect for tradition (as seen when he tries to toss out the former principle’s painting), Principle Dort appears to be unhinged on the surface. He throws a ton of ideas at everything, from establishing Wednesday as their school mascot (she hates and instantly rejects this idea, setting his new painting on fire and storming off in a black mood), to trying to convince her grandmother to fund the school’s new “mortician tower,” where the future generations of morticians will learn how to embalm people. He sells her an idea, and is annoyed when she rejects it. Over time, we learn that he was also the founder of the cult that sucked in Bianca’s mother, since he had a great idea of how to get tons of money and have influence over people, but lacked the good looks and charisma the role of cult leader required, so he hired a two-bit bartender to be his front man, and got Bianca’s mother to Siren everyone into obedience, since he was working as her talent agent at the time. It’s implied he has had several different careers and is something of a grifter, who intends to make off with all the cash off the Frumps.

Introverted Thinking

He is extremely talented at seeing what he can do with what he has, and making the best out of it, even if his methods are not exactly nice or moral. He blackmails people constantly, using Bianca’s mother to build a cult, then using Bianca to Siren Morticia and her mother into leaving their entire fortune to the school (him) so he can run off with it. He reasons that people are stupid and need someone to tell them what to think. Seeing Wednesday’s popularity despite her dour mood, he tries to recruit her into being on his side, to no avail. His ventures are all profitable, which is all he cares about in the end. Dort heartlessly incinerates his cult leader and throws him into the fireplace to get rid of him, in front of Bianca so that she understands what will happen to her, if she crosses him.

Extraverted Feeling

Wednesday finds him “cringe,” because he is forever trying to appeal to people, get on their good side, and rally them into a shared emotional response. We see this at the bonfire, when he tries to get everyone to cheer at all the right times and puts on a spectacle, when it annoys him that Wednesday is not a team player, and when she doesn’t have the “right” emotional response to being honored with a portrait. She is supposed to be flattered, not upset. He tries to charm people, but when that fails, gets Bianca to change their mind. Dort pretends to be funny, pleasant, and a nice guy, but in reality he is ruthless.

Introverted Sensing

Keep things the way they are? Nah, it is time for Nevermore to move into the future at the speed of light. Let’s replace the old derelict tower with an entirely new, modern one that does not match the gothic aesthetic! That’s how Dort feels about the past: he does not honor it, care about it, and is not nostalgic for it.

School needs to be fun, right? Dort sets out to make huge improvements right from the off, bringing in color, carnivals, extravaganzas, and dressing up sad moments with fun at the end. He says that they will honor the dead, but then there will be a party, because having a low mood is no fun at all. He puts a smilie face on everything, including Wednesday, for which she hates him even harder. And he is absolutely sure that he is doing what’s right for him, at all times; without shame. He uses people to get what he wants, then discards them, and skips on to the next grift, without ever looking back or dwelling in regret. Even when Sirened into telling the truth about his crimes, he is enthusiastic about having done them.

The 6 Wing

First, Dort tries to win people over and to get them to be on his side. He tries to convince them that what he is doing is fun and necessary, and when they won’t cooperate, that’s when he blackmails them, cheerfully. His 6 wing wants support and collaboration, for everyone to get along and on board with his ideas, but he is also aware of his own shortcomings and that he needs more charismatic people to make up for them. He is cautious and distrustful enough of Sirens to wear a pocket watch spelled to protect them from his influence at all times, so he can’t be forced to do anything he does not want to do.
