MBTI Type: ISTP

Cade is yet another in a long line of emotionally distant doctors who don’t want to become too involved with their patients, who are pragmatic, and make decisions based on what is logical over their personal feelings. She continually covers up any emotional hurts through physical activity; staying active, having a “no strings connected” one night stand (which could later develop into a relationship) and by moving around. Cade worked on the front lines rescuing people, she loves being in an ambulance because of the thrill it gives her, and she moves around to different hospitals a lot. It’s tough for her to stay put, since she feels a need to always be on the move and never stagnating. She is a good problem solver and takes a lot of risks, sometimes without being aware of the danger to herself, while also being aware of the threat the mob poses to her and her family. Cade likes to solve problems and improvise in the moment, and is a capable doctor, who also senses when something is amiss with her dad and reads between the lines. She picks up on what people are hiding from her, when they come in for a consultation, and thinks about her future in a way that helps her navigate the present (who to get involved with, etc). Cade distanced herself from her emotionally absent and distracted father, to protect her feelings; but also, is open about them. Like Billie, she sometimes makes decisions based on how her actions will affect other people, and uses that as a way to keep her father in line (he is endangering others, and this is wrong/bad). She does not know how to deal with her feelings sometimes; she intended to leave the hospital without saying goodbye to anyone, but also confronts Conrad with her feelings when he “cheats” on her, and dumps him on the spot, since she sees no point in being with someone who “lied” to her.

Enneagram: 9w1

Cade remains distant from her fellow doctors because she is working undercover with the FBI, and now has people looking for her; but she does so on a matter of principle and intends not to get too attached to anywhere. But she also puts up with a lot from her father; she knows he is using drugs but still cares about him, and tolerates him. He neglected her as a kid, but she wants to connect to him and make space for him. It’s only at rehab when she finally admits to her feelings that Cade realizes she was way too tolerant, accepting, and pleasant, and gave him too much rope with which to hang himself. She tells him off for being a bad parent, and walks away; but she can’t really disconnect. She winds up still being involved in his life, looking out for him, and trying to help him do “the right thing.” Her 1 wing pushes her to constantly seek to do good, and to improve the world through her contributions, including working as an informant and recruiting Conrad to do the same. It’s a “matter of principle” that she shut down any fake medical establishments or pill peddlers who are hurting people. Cade is cautious, but not overly so, and it shocks her to be almost killed on her way out of the hospital, as she was innocently about to drive away to another job. Even after she and Conrad break up, because he kissed another woman, she keeps things pleasant between them and is able to work with and even sort of show signs of friendship toward “the other woman.”
