MBTI Type: ESTP

Hangman is the token “jock jerk” of the group of trainees… confident, cocky, and arrogant, totally at ease in any new situation, able to adapt fast, risk-taking, and a lot like Maverick in his younger years. He’s a natural pilot and daredevil but also knows to keep inside the rules. He’s good at sports and loves to stay active, is always doing things, even if that involves causing trouble, and is highly skilled when in the air at tackling and surviving dangerous maneuvers, which makes others think he’s a lock for the dangerous uranium mission. He shows low Fe in how he likes to antagonize people and how he decides to bring up Maverick’s failure (the death of his best friend) to rub his face in the past and see if it breaks his concentration. He can be charming when he wants to be, but Maverick only earns his trust by proving what a good pilot he is in the end – when he comes back from a mission having succeeded and survived behind enemy lines, Hangman congratulates him. He shows no long term thinking.

Enneagram: 3w4

Hangman is cocky and arrogant, sure of being the best and confident of winning approval. He puts himself forward for missions and enjoys calling attention to his successes when in training. He clashes somewhat with Maverick because of his antagonistic attitude and tendency to push back at him and challenge him, seeing him as competition and something of a threat. He wants to prove how good he is and takes any opportunity to do so, but can also be condescending, arrogant, and elitist, with a snide attitude about Maverick and his failures.
